Free Music Notes for Cold MountainFree Music Review: Best Soundtrack I've ever bought.... Hit: 5 Stars
First and foremost I need to clarify something to people: This IS the music played in the movie. I have bought too many supposed soundtracks that weren't what I heard in the film. Nothing can frustrate me more. I love this CD. I have truly never had a soundtrack where I loved each and every track on it. This one is so different. I don't care what everyone else says about it. I have no idea who Jack White is and I really don't care. I just love the music on here, pure and simple. I also don't agree with the reviewer who previously stated that Sting should be singing on here. Sure, he should, IF he did it in the movie. (which he did not)
Free Music Review: I wish I could give this CD 10 stars! Hit: 5 Stars
This soundtrack contains some of the most beautifully done bluegrass music I have ever heard. It goes without saying that Alison Krauss has established herself firmly as a contemporary bluegrass artist, and Sting sings harmony with her on the haunting "My Ain True Love", which he wrote. But what really makes this album special to me is the addition of the enormously talented and diverse Jack White of the White Stripes. He brings a fresh, young sound to some traditional bluegrass pieces and contributes an original song of his own, "Never Far Away". This CD will really take you to another time and place.
Free Music Review: Powerful and Haunting Hit: 5 Stars
It appears that most, if not all, of the poor rated reviews are from users in Illinois. I too am from Illinois, but find the opposite. This soundtrack is riveting and very overwhelming. The style of music here is a step back into time using raw and untrained bluegrass. Many people interpret this as a failed attempt at a bluegrass soundtrack, but keep in mind that bluegrass does have many roots spread across the east, through the south and into the midwestern area giving different sounds to bluegrass. If you enjoyed the movie, you will certainly enjoy the soundtrack!

What a great soundtrack. This is such a great CD. Maybe not for Rock n Roll fans, and definately not for R & B lovers but if you are a fan of Bluegrass and other different kinds of music than this is a great pick. The music makes you back to a different time. It also has a great lineup, Allison Crauss, Sting, and who knew, Jack White (of the White Stripes) All the songs are wonderful, I can't wait to buy it. Be sure at least to preview the better tracks on the CD which include "You Will Be My Ain True Love" "The Scarlet Tide" and "Wayfaring Stranger."
Free Music Review: Stunning Hit: 5 Stars
Allison Krauss is my new favorite singer. And did anyone know that Jack White was so good at bluegras??? Harp singing is also a new obsession of mine. The Sacred Harp Singers are unbelievabele; I've never heard something so....well, musical. A beautiful chorus of voices, full of conviction. I like the instrumental/Gabriel Yared songs too, especially Ada Plays. I think that song fits in so well with Ada's character. If you've seen the movie or read the book, or jsut want an easy beginner bluegrass cd, this is the one to go for.
