This is a wonderful compilation of Bluegrass music. Anyone interested in that kind of music and anyone who likes the movie or lives nearby the actual site of the movie MUST buy this album. Alison Krauss' "You will be my ain true love" should have won the oscar. What a wonderful and deeply sensual song. You can feel the emotions. If one is true to the spirit of this music, one must admit that Jack White has as much right to sing it as anyone. Elitist reviewers, bite your tongues! I grew up jamming on this kind of music in living rooms and back porches from Alabama to Montana. This CD takes me back. While you may not love every track, you will, if you are a music lover, appreciate The Scarlet Tide and You Will Be My Ain True Love. Gorgeous melodies and poignant lyrics there. And beware; the score will take you right back to Cold Mountain, conjuring up images and whatever it was you experienced at the fate of Inman.Free Music Review: A good CD

If you liked the music in the movie then you'll enjoy this CD. Even my kids enjoy listening to it, then again, they like many different kinds of music and this isn't your typical kid type, but much of it is really upbeatish and they dance around being silly. This cd is one of the best bluegrass discs I have ever heard. Every track evoked feelings from the film and even if you are not a fan of the movie, the music on its own is superb. I still enjoy this soundtrack every time I listen to it. I Highly recommend this cd. It is epic without being contrite.
