Free Music Review: a great album
Hit: 5 Stars

After parachutes you thought coldplay couldn't make it much better.A rush of blood is one of the best albums i've ever heard.Ok computer was great and i loved the bends but in terms of easy listening music with great lyrics this is way better. It starts great with politik and in my place.God put a smile upon your face is a good song maybe not a great one.The highlight has to be the Scientist.Chris Martin leads with the piano and vocals with the lads kicking in for a great finale.Clocks is a funny song but it just clicks.A bit of lull kicks in during the middle but it finishes with the album title song and amsterdam which are both fantastic.

Free Music Review: This record "puts a smile upon my face"!
Hit: 4 Stars

... Yes, you read it right. In spite of its sad lyrics, this album "puts a smile upon my face". Only the title track's melodies (which are magnificent, by the way) are as somber as the record's words. The rest of the music in "A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD" is rather shiny. I just simply ignore its lyrics and enjoy its marvelous sunny melodies.

In "A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD", the members of Coldplay managed to amalgamate the best elements of "PARACHUTES" into a cohesive, well defined style, as it can be heard in two of the album's big hits, "In My Place" and "The Scientist". Both "A Warning Sign" and "Amsterdam", a couple of outstanding anthems, also fit in this pattern.

But in "A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD", the band was clever enough to throw in some assorted delights in order to avoid monotony and redundancy. In this sense, "Politik" is spiced with a delicious Beatelesque flavor a la Sgt. Pepper's. "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face" has an irresistible, funky blues feeling. "Green Eyes" has a nice Country and Western twist. And both "Daylight" and "A Whisper" are rocking, mid Sixties inspired numbers. They are so well done that they sound like if they were written in 1966.

The crowning achievement in "A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD" is, perhaps, "Clocks". Stylistically, it has all the elements that define the trademark Coldplay sound. But in addition, is a faster paced than usual, elegant tune driven by memorable piano lines that would later be aped by this band in X & Y's first single, "Speed of Sound". No wonder why. "Clocks" became a huge hit.

For many people, "A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD" was a surprise hit. Yet, in retrospective, is easy to understand why this album was, and still is, so popular. Coldplay is one of those rare bands capable of creating a well balanced sound of their own, hip and hard rocking enough to attract teenagers and young adults in their twenties, and at the same time introspective and subtle enough to attract the so called adult contemporary audience. And this achievement is set in stone in this triumphant effort.

Free Music Review: Beautiful and calming.
Hit: 5 Stars

Certainly one of my favorite albums, A Rush of Blood To The Head is arguably Coldplay's best work.

It is an incredibly effective, calming experience. From a musical standpoint, it is brilliant. The instrumental aspects of the album are absolutely genius, as are Chris Martin's vocals, which are flat-out soothing.

It doesn't lack in consistency whatsoever, and is the best album of it's genre that was released that year. Buy it if you don't have it.

Free Music Review: A Number One Album
Hit: 5 Stars

I read an interview once that stated that Chris Martin wrote "Warning Sign" when he was in a ridiculous mood and that the song was a trifle and had no real meaning. You could have bowled me over with a feather. Mmmm. Be that as it may, and I must admit the revelation flattened me a bit, I deem this particular work as music 'par excellence' and have added it to my #1 song list. Admittantly, the whole album is brilliant...it's melodic, it moves the soul; and even if you do question what drugs Martin was taking when he wrote some of those often critised so-called meaningless lyrics, in the end it doesn't really matter. The lyrics and the music are as one and form to make one beautiful whole. I really can't critise one song here, well maybe "Green Eyes" because it's just a tad too folky for me, but I still like it. This album would have to be may all-time favourite...to me it outshines Neil Young's "Harvest" of the 70s, The Cure's "KissMeKissMeKissMe" of the 80s and Supergrass's "In it for the Money" of the 90s. If you havent listened to this album yet, do yourself a favour and get into it. You might want to listen to "X & Y" after that and that certainly wouldn't be a waste of time either.

Free Music Review: Move over, Kenny G!
Hit: 1 Stars

Coldplay really do get spitballs thrown at them. It's totally reasonable. Coldplay are the third rate ersatz ____ for what they try to do. They try to be sensitive, intelligent, beautiful, Radiohead, etc. But most of those who have taste beyond the ________ radio know better. Or those that know better voices that make the whiny, horrible Chris Martin.

This is not a rush of blood to the head. Why does Chris Martin seem to have such an ego that his album titles drip with pretention? The names alone! Even if this music was half way decent, I couldn't respect this band anyway, because of Chris Martin's ego inducing image. Like Wastoid, if I can't respect the artist, I don't like the music. And what about the music?

This album is filled with boring acoustic guitar ballads. DOn't be fooled by the rare moment of beauty, the awesome beginning of Clocks. Everything else is a hogwash. It really tries to be beautiful, but it isn't in anyway. It's has to do with how bad chris martin sings, or moans. chris martin moans like a sleeping caveman crossed with Thom Yorke and the most boring school teacher in the nation. The guitars are extremely vanilla. He's no Nick Drake, that's for sure. In My Place and Clocks are quite different, but it doesn't save the album at all. Those songs are just as annoying.

If anything, it's a good way to get to sleep, though Tangerine Dream is a less painful way (more like a blissful way). Contrary to what people say, Coldplay is the "greatest" thing since sliced bread. Instead of just slicing the ______ thing (George Carlin, heh), people need the bread because they are to _______ lazy to do it, and it's overrhyped and stupid. Just like Coldplay, because instead of looking for beauty yourself, you let the radio guide you because your too lazy to tread in the waters of music.
