Free Music Review: The Best Album of 2002
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is an incredible piece of rock music, and I feel is the best album of the last year. It seems every kind of emotion is captured by Chris Martin and greatly expressed with an alliance of drums, guitar, and a piano.

If there was a course in college called Bono101, Martin definetly aced it. I don't feel it comes out as much as other fans, but a lot of the elements that made u2 the biggest band in the world does show up in "Rush of Blood to the Head." Martin's delivery is definetly similar to u2's lead man, and he's got some soul in his voice too.

Although comprised of many ballads, the first track is a fast, hard, drum-led track called "Politik," with a catchy chorus in which Martin yells "Open Up your Eyes..." It's an excellent track which introduces the album very well, and is followed by the first single "In My Place," which made me buy the CD...an incredible ballad.

Two other hidden gems on this album are "The Scientist" and "Warning Sign," two ballads with excellent lyrics and delivery by Martin. Like "In My Place," Coldplay seems to make simple songs but they are so well done they become so addictive. As most songs are on the slow side, they still keep the album upbeat with good tracks such as "Whisper." But by far, in my opinion, the best track on this album is "Clocks," its amazing!! Don't really have anything to say about it, just buy the CD for this track and listen to it, you'll then understand.

There are one or two skip overs on this album, not because their bad tracks but because they probably just won't grow on you. I'm a tough critic and would usually save the 5 stars for the "Achtung Babys" of rock, but what the hell, this is an incredible album. Coldplay will be around for awhile...

Free Music Review: Painfully Beautiful
Hit: 5 Stars

I can't say that I was a Coldplay fan after their previous album releases even though I did, like the majority of the public, enjoy the ever popular "Yellow". But this time I decided to give them a try and I can now declare that I'm completely in love with them! Every song is loaded with emotions and heart. Each song is worth taking the time to listen to simply because of: the quality lyrics that really say something and are not there just to fill in gaps, Martin's hauntingly feeling vocals lingering near the ears (can send goosebumps all over your body), and most importantly the wonderful collaboration of the guitars laying the foundation to Coldplay's trademark melancholic tune and atmosphere. I found myself teary-eyed just listening to the guitars and piano play and almost cried when Martin's powerful voice took over. Despite the sadness that emanates from their music, one can only feel a sense of indulgence and satisfaction after listening to them.
This is the first review I've ever written although I've been a regular at Amazon for a while and have always read what others had to say...but this time, Coldplay's "Rush of Blood to the Head" has truly impressed me and I can't keep these my thoughts to myself anymore.
I can't decide which songs are better than which because I personally find each to bear their own share of value. But I can say that I do have a few favorites from this almost perfect album - "Politik", "In My Place", "The Scientist", "Green Eyes", "A Rush of Blood to the Head" and "Amsterdam". I'm not an expert reviewer so I'll leave the detailed song analyses to others who are!
Last words: this album is definitely worth its price or even more so there should be no hesitating in getting this now. Prepare yourself for a pleasure the ears, mind and heart will never forget.

Free Music Review: Beautiful Effort...This is UK's Finest Band
Hit: 5 Stars

Coldplay's uplifting new album is, without a doubt,a winner. After all the critical acclaim they got with "Parachutes", the british band has managed to surpass such a hit, bringing out a poignant record drenched with powerful songs as well as the emotive ballads they're used to make. How difficult it must be for a band to do that? Well, very.
Compared with "Parachutes" "A Rush of Blood..." is superior in various aspects: Is evident that the band has put more effort in the songs, the result is a more complex sound. Also the acoustic guitars are not a constant anymore, proof of that are songs with great guitar riffs ("Politik", "Daylight", "A Whisper"). The other difference is the mood of the record, there is happiness here ("Green Eyes", "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face") so you don't need a kleenex everytime you listen, like in "Parachutes" (that's good, as much as I like to listen to sad tunes).
But you still know is Coldplay.
Chris Martin's voice is always communicating heartfelt emotions, moreover contributing with the piano in several songs. Many bands would kill to have someone as good lyricist and musician as him.
There's a balance on this record in which songs flow naturally: "The Scientist", "Warning Sign" and "Amsterdam" being my favourites and with "Clocks" and "In my Place" being very catchy.
Lyrically emotive and sometimes rebel ("Politik","Rush of Blood..."); musically with more textures helped by strings, shivering guitars and great choruses making this record a bliss to the ear. The music is very dynamic, so you don't get bored or fall asleep, far from it, you want more.
In a market satured with pop, hip-hop, and nu-metal nonsense, "A Rush of Blood..." shines with own light showing these guys have a yet brighter future. I can't get enough of this CD!

Free Music Review: Awesome 5 Stars

"A Rush of blood to the head" is destined to be a favorite among thousands because of its first rate lyrics. Admittedly it is sometimes hard to understand what the Chris Martin is talking about, but the lyrics are easy to memorize. For instance in the song "Green Eyes" he says, "Honey, you are the rock upon which I stand and I come here to talk. I hope you understand." Martin, Coldplay's main vocalist and piano player, sings that verse with a very clear and soft voice which makes you feel like you are drinking the purest and sweetest water.
In addition to how easy it is to memorize, the lyrics are also relatable and they tap into your emotions. In the song "A Rush of Blood to the Head" Martin sings, "I said I'm gonna buy this place and burn it down, yeah, I'm gonna put it six feet underground, I'm gonna buy this place and see it burn, to do back the things it did to you in return." What he is saying is that he wants to get back at something, for someone he loves because it hurt them.
Most importantly, Coldplay's lyrics never fail to create a clever picture. In the song "A Warning Sign" Martin says, "You came back to haunt me, and I realized you were an island and I passed you by, you were an island to discover." The way he says that gives you a clear picture of what he feels and of what he did wrong.
Not only are the lyrics fantastic, but Chris Martin is a phenomenal pianist. Who doesn't instantly recognize the intro to "Clocks"? Martin's talent effectively showcases the relatable, emotional and memorable lyrics on the popular album. Coldplay's album "A Rush of Blood to the Head" is basically what triggered most people's affection for Coldplay. Because of Coldplay, alternative may become many people's favorite genre.

Free Music Review: Could it be quality passionate music that is also popular?
Hit: 5 Stars

In a recent story in Rolling Stone, Chris Martin has declared a mission to get passionate music back into the mainstream..There are signs that good music is finally getting noticed again, instead of junk like Creed, Uncle Kracker, Kid Rock, etc..I could go on forever. Artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Norah Jones, Dave Matthews Band, Beth Orton, Beck, Ryan Adams and more are in the spotlight..sorta anyway. And then there is Coldplay. The first time I listened to "A rush of blood to the head", I was floored by the raw passion this guy had in his voice. I felt his emotion almost more than I heard it. Thats what real music does to you.

The album starts off with anthem-like politik, and it does not let up at all with the emotion rollercoaster. "In my place", the "yellow" on this album, is a perfect melody. Then this band starts to experiment with alot of keyboards and piano on "God put a smile on your face" and perhaps the real gem of them all, "Clocks". The energy and rush of emotion explodes on these songs, even without the exploding guitars that other bands use. "The Scientist" is sadly beautiful, and "Green eyes", the only acoustic guitar based song on the album, is haunting...There are no duds on this album, and the last half of the album is as good as the first half.."Warning sign" is maybe my favorite on the album, and "Whisper" is energetic. The last two songs on the album the title track and "Amsterdam" are two of the most passionate on the cd. Gorgeous melodies, sad but hopeful lyrics brings this album to the top of my list for the year so far...Maybe its the times, but Coldplay has started something here, and its beautiful...
