Free Music Notes for A Rush of Blood to the Head

Free Music Review: "Beautiful" and "Amazing" do not do this album justice.
Hit: 5 Stars

Oh my. I honestly didn't think Coldplay's second effort could outdo "Parachutes" but with the fifth straight listening of the cd, they have so proved me wrong. This cd had me right from the get go. With their first cd, I loved every song, and that is the exact case with this album, only it's so much stronger.
Instead of beginning on a soft, light note like the guys did with their first album, "Politik" thrashes the notes with a harsh intensity that beckons the listeners attention. I listened in absolute awe the entire time. "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face" made me smile with glee while a few minutes later for "The Scientist" I was crying. Not many musicians can bring me to tears that easily, but apparently, I have given up in trying to fight the battle with these guys.
While all of the songs are absolute gems, I think the ones that just stand out so much more for me are "Warning Sign" which also had me in more tears. Just hearing Chris Martin singing "when the truth is I miss you" does it for me. The word beautiful doesn't even do the song justice. It doesn't do the album justice even! Also, the title track is amazing. It is so hard for me to pinpoint my favorite song on the album because they are all amazing.
I cannot stress enough how much I love this album. I honestly think it may knock The Verve's "Urban Hymns" as my favorite album of all time.
The lyrics have improved, the music has improved. Everything is beautiful with this album. With all of the ... that MTV and pop radio is force feeding people, it's time for some real music. Resistance is futile people! Coldplay is going to show us the way - and I am more than willing to follow them.

Free Music Review: A simple-melodic-majestic-beautiful-modern-classic record
Hit: 5 Stars

A modern classic indeed. When the record was finally released and I listened it left me mesmerized. If you focus on the technical side it's quite alright but the melodies are just outstanding. Politik, In my place, God put a smile..., The Scientist, Clocks, Daylight, A whisper...their melodies just couldn't get off of my head.

One thing I've noticed is that this album has darker melodies than its predecessor like Daylight & a whisper. Still you can see a lighter side in them unlike Radiohead's last 2 albums. With all due respect to Radiohead I know they're doing their best to push forward like what the Beatles did on their heyday. But, let's be frank, Radiohead is just pushing further to the dark side. I just pray that Coldplay would try to minimize exploring the way Radiohead's experimenting with their music.

The song that hit me at my first listen was God put a smile upon your face. Great melody and song structure. But in the end almost every song are equal in beauty. I'm a Christian but I still listen to some secular music. I just pray that someday a Christian band like Coldplay will emerge and would mesmerize both Christians and the world.

The cover art is really very simple yet quite inticing to the eyes. It reminds me of Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures cover art.

If you buy this record, try to listen to it again and again and I assure you it will become more and more beautiful and that you would agree and live up to my title for this review for this album as "a simple-melodic-majestic-beautiful-modern-classic record." Does it deserve grammys, brit awards and other music awards??? YES IS THE ULTIMATLEY OBVIOUS ANSWER.

Free Music Review: The Return of Brit-Pop
Hit: 5 Stars

The four stages of Brit-Pop:
1) Oasis / Blur
2) Radiohead / The Verve
3) The genre takes several years off.
4) Coldplay.
For the past seven years, no Easy Listening artist has been able to touch Coldplay. And 2002's A Rush of Blood to the Head is Chris Martin's masterwork. A Rush of Blood to the Head makes pretty much all other modern Ballad-bands look silly in their efforts (The Fray's How to Save a Life, for example, is a low quality copycat of A Rush/Head). This and Arctic Monkey's Whatever People Say I Am are the best two British albums of the new millennium. But where Whatever People Say I Am follows the Definitely Maybe / Parklife / Rocking-out formula, A Rush/Head follows the Morning Glory? / OK Computer formula of Ballad-based, intelligent musical progression. Giant anthems `The Scientist' and `Clocks' are the new decade's `Wonderwall' and `Champagne Supernova.' `God Put a Smile on Your Face' might be the best song of Coldplay's career - a near perfect blend of high energetic percussion, memorable acoustic melodies and soaring, powerful vocals on the part of Chris Martin. `Daylight' is a Dark Side of The Moon / OK Computer influenced gem, and the staple alternative of `In My Place' is a better version of Oasis's `Stand By Me.' One hidden song is the closing `Amsterdam,' a truly awesome display of progressive, `Bohemian Rhapsody'-style Easy Listening. All the songs are damn good, even if the likes of `Green Eyes' sounds a little too much like a County song for comfort. Given the popularity that Coldplay has already amassed, A Rush of Blood to the Head will go down inn history as a classic of the post-Rock era.

Free Music Review: Unbelievable stuff.....
Hit: 5 Stars

The song 'Yellow' was garnering more and more airplay, and i had definitely heard of Coldplay but didn't have any of their
songs. It was a few years ago that my friend told me to go and buy Parachutes, and I was completey blown away.

So the two year wait for 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' has been eagerly anticipated. After listening to this album for a week now, I haven't been disppointed. Coldplay have exceeded my expectations, infact they have done even more. They have made a masterful album full of life, with warm, soulful, uplifting tracks of the highest quality. The heart rendering emotion displayed in 'The Scientist' will be nothing like you've heard this year. The amazing piano work on 'Clocks' is breathtaking. Just close your eyes and listen to 'Green Eyes' and you'll be transported to a beautiful place, and 'Warning Sign' with it's guitar compliments the lyrics perfectly. Chris Martin puts every inch of his heart in to his songs and never leaves a stone unturned. 'God put smile on you face' and 'A rush of blood to the head' are louder but never lose their appeal and grace that Coldplay have firmly put in to place. Every song is great in its own right, and the soft 'Amersterdam' is a perfect album closer.

In this day and age many bands stuggle to find a grip in their music and more often than not produce inconsistent material with
no real connection holding them together. Coldplay blend they're music consistently, with meaningful lyrics and above all music that touches the heart. Believe me, putting aside suggestions made by Martin himself that this could be the last album, at this rate Coldplay can become the biggest band in the world.

Free Music Review: An excellent follow-up to Parachutes
Hit: 5 Stars

Coldplay's second album is a big step forward from their first album. I bought their first album about a year ago and I liked it alot, but I couldn't really get into it. I usually did not listen to that album all the way through because not every song would capture my attention and not let go. This album does that. It sucks you in from the opening drum beat of "Politik" and doesn't let go until the last words of "Amsterdam" fade away. This album is different from "Parachutes" in that it has less of a rock'n'roll feel with more piano and acoustic guitars rather than electric guitars. The songs are similar but they are played in a different way using different instruments. The songwriting has gotten alot better. The lyrics are very straightforward and not very abstract. Chris Martin's delivery is passionate and evokes feeling and emotion from the listener. I found that alot of the songs lyrics I could relate to very much, especially with relationships with women. And, of course, all of the songs reminded me of my present girlfriend. This is very good because the album will become a part of you if this happens (it probably will). You can listen to the album all way through without skipping a song. Every song is good. The only weak song is "A Whisper", but it is still very good. The standout tracks are "In my place," "God put a smile on your face," "clocks," "daylight," "green eyes," and "warning sign." You see there are so many. So, do yourself a favor and buy an album that is from a band that was not manufactured by a record company like so many others. Buy an album that has artisctic creativity dripping off of it. Just buy this album.
