Free Music Notes for A Rush of Blood to the HeadFree Music Review: Enjoyable, relaxing and beautiful album Hit: 5 Stars
This is certainly not my favourite album, but it's one of the albums I play the most. It's easy listening and beautiful. I may not be very hard songs to play, but not because most song are simple doesn't mean they're bad. Not at all. Although the first couple of times I listen to it, it was hard to listen all songs till the end and nearly every song got boring. But i grew quickly on me and I saw the beauty of the album. Politik -one of my favourites - starts the album very bombastic, but it ends up as a beautiful song. In My Place is a little to simple for my taste, but it's certainly not a bad song. God Put A Smile Upon Your Face -another favourite- is a little less catchy, and you may not like it the first couple of times, but it's really great. If anybody doesn't like The Scientist, I wonder why that person even bought this CD, this is certainly a stand out even for the non-fans. The song is magnificent, just as the clip for the song (one of the best clips I've ever seen). Everybody likes Clocks, isn't it? Fans and non-fans. This is probably the biggest reason why you concider buying this CD. Although it's not one of my favourites, it can certainly be concidered as the most popular Coldplay-song. Daylight and Green Eyes are both good songs, but not as great as the rest of the CD, but not bad at all, I certainly don't skip these songs. Warning Sing - my favourite Coldplay-song ever- is maybe not the most stunning song on the album, but you've got to see the beauty of the song, this song hides itself behind songs as The Scientist and Clocks and that's why most people never pay enough attention to the song, and that's maybe why most people don't concider Warning Sign as a stand out. Even more people concider A Whisper as the worst song on the album, but I honestly don't know why. It's a little different then the rest of the album, but that's what makes me like it. A Rush Of Blood Through The Head, the titletrack, may not be the best song on the album, far from, but it's still great. Amsterdam is beautiful and is an excellent closer of the album. This is an-all-time-CD that is certainly worth buying.
Free Music Review: Excellent Follow-up to PARACHUTES - Hard to Stop Listening! Hit: 5 Stars
I was doubtful that Coldplay could release anything that would possibly equate to their astounding PARACHUTES debut, but RUSH OF BLOOD has proven me wrong. At first listen I found it much more mellow than the previous album (though similarly seductive), yet with each new listen, it gets better and better - and, hey, Coldplay IS mellow music most times. RUSH OF BLOOD stands along-side of PARACHUTES as a near equal. The album opens with POLITIK with a memorable, off-key chord and social-consciousness haunting chrous of "Open up your eyes". IN MY PLACE - the first radio release - is a catchy, YELLOW-ish tune, another singalong anthem that will stay with you for years. A real standout is track 3 - GOD PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE - with the very memorable chord progression of the upbeat chorus. The next track, THE SCIENTIST, is a beautiful, slow ballad that takes even a simple phrase "Nobody said it was easy" to new emotional heights - you can almost hear the Beatles' HEY JUDE buildup in this song to the point which you may almost be singing your own "nah-nah0-nah-na-na-na-na" at the end. CLOCKS, the second release from this album, is a very catchy, piano driven arpeggio progression. DAYLIGHT also reminded me a bit of the Beatles, maybe in their later, Eastern-influenced era. Two other *excellent* tracks on this album are WARNING SIGN (this one nearly breaks my heart now with its wistful "But the truth is, I miss you" post-breakup reflections - again, don't let the simplicity of the lyrics fool you - wait til you HEAR it nearly cried out to you) and the title track, A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD, the lyrics of which echo sentiments of loss and time passed and mistakes made - with a very touching chorus as well. This album has a LOT to discovery and offers up more with each new listen. If you did not have the joy of discovering Coldplay with PARACHUTES, get both albums now! And if you were as moved by PARACHUTES as I was, you will not be disappointed with RUSH OF BLOOD - its stands on its own as another masterpiece.
Free Music Review: Heaven in the form of Music Hit: 5 Stars
Coldplay's "A Rush of Blood to the Head" is by far the most brilliant, breath-taking, deeply moving, artistic, soul-stirring album of all time. Chris Martin and the gang are pure genius. I became a fan when i first heard the song "Yellow." I knew this was going to be a band that would soon pave the way to a new fresh meaningful breed of music. Here are my favorites along with a brief description: #1 The Scientist- When I first heard this song, my mind immediately left my body and drifted into an earthly heaven. I suddenly felt calm and at peace. The piano ripped open the door to my soul and made it's presence known. I somehow feel that this song's one purpose is to help give meaning and direction to our lives. I have to admit though, it is very sad, yet soothingly redeeming. The tears just started rolling as Chris performed Ooohs towards the end. I still get teary eyed each time I listen. But they are more like tears of joy, because I have been touched with a sense of hope and love. #2 In My Place- This has got to be the twin brother of "Yellow." The chorus is the best part. Very enlightening song! #3 Green Eyes- Good lord, this is great stuff. Whenever I hear this song, it's like i'm inhaling fresh crisp cool air on a mountain top. It's quite hip, refreshing, and puts me in a great mood. #4 A Rush of Blood to the Head-Can they get any more brilliant? The Scientist took my soul. This one took everything else. #5 Clocks- I think Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart are all smiling from ear to ear. I know I am! Great SONG period. #6 Amsterdam- Pefect ending to a great album!!!! A soft and serene exit. No need to go out with a bang. The bang will be track 1 on the next album! Ok, so my favorites are 6 out of 11. Not bad. The other songs are good too! I just tend to flock more towards the sappier side of life. This album should be purchased by anyone who has 15 bucks in their pocket. And why hasnt Coldplay won the Nobel Prize yet? Chris Martin definitely has a beautiful mind.
Free Music Review: A stunning follow-up to "Parachutes" Hit: 5 Stars
I immensely enjoyed Coldplay's first album "Parachutes" when it first came out and when bands like Coldplay and Travis was all the rage and being compared to Radiohead. Over time my tastes in music has taken a left turn for the darker and more intense sounds of KMFDM and VNV Nation. And as much as I enjoyed "In My Place" when it first came out last year, I wasn't really sure if I was going to get "A Rush of Blood to the Head". "In My Place" is a beautiful song. But over the past couple of months I have really started getting into the singles "Clocks" and "The Scientist". "The Scientist" is what really changed my mind about "A Rush of Blood to the Head". I came upon "A Rush of Blood to the Head" in the used cd bins at my favorite record store and quickly snatched it up. I knew full well that there wouldn't be another song as catchy and infectious as "Yellow" when I bought the cd today so my expectations were pretty low key. I understand now why "A Rush of Blood to the Head" was listed as the best album of 2002 with a lot of music critics. The band has quickly established itself that they are no flash-in-the-pan act like Oasis and Travis (sadly enough to say). I absolutely loved the beautiful, lush ballad of "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face". That definitely is one of the best songs Coldplay has put out. Like I said before, "The Scientist" is the song that made me want to buy "A Rush of Blood to the Head". It is simply one of my favorite songs at the moment, and one of the few decent songs that radio is playing right now. Most people probably were expecting for Coldplay to fall flat on their face with their second album. Thankfully the band proved their critics wrong and released an excellent album of catchy pop/rock songs that will stand the test of time. I'm glad I changed my mind about this album and this band. I foresee a bright future for this band.
Free Music Review: Oh, NOW I get it! Hit: 5 Stars
Not usually a mellow music fan, I picked up this album to see if I could find some surprises on here (i.e., fast songs with hooks). My first reaction to this album? "Boring!" But slowly, this band started pulling me in; it required a bit of effort and patience on my part. First, the hypnotic piano melody of "The Scientist" caught my interest (really, it is the easiest song of Coldplay's to like if you're not a habitual listener to downbeat material); then it was the heavenly beginning of "Clocks" that reminded me of all of the pivotal and moving points of great films (think of Julie Andrews spinning around on that big grassy field, arms above her head in joy, in "The Sound of Music"); then I regressed to songs off their previous album ("Trouble" and "Yellow"). I still wasn't quite a fan. That is, until one late night I started to listen to "Politik" and "In My Place." I found myself addicted to the melodies that I hadn't realized were there; it suddenly hit me that Coldplay was, well, good. Next came my appreciation for "Don't Panic" and "Warning Sign." I now understand that Coldplay is an acquired taste. Sure, they're popular and mainstream, but they're definitely not for everyone. And for many people, Coldplay might take some patience. For one thing, their songs tend to be mellow, slow, and, as some people have said, overbearing. It's fairly easy to dismiss this band if you have little time to sit down to really listen. If you prefer something you can dance to, look elsewhere. It took me months to become a fan of this album, which is filled with songs that have melodies that hit deeply to the core, an effect that is rare for many. Arguably, there are no real easy hooks that you hum along to as soon as you hear them. Rather, the songs gradually seep into your brain until you find yourself addicted to both the harmonies and the oftentimes enigmatic lyrics. For this reason, Coldplay shows signs of longevity, and "A Rush of Blood to the Head" shows signs of becoming a classic.
