Free Music Notes for Live 2003 (CD & DVD)Free Music Review: This one's a keeper! Hit: 5 Stars
Such an unbelievable DVD! I bought this not sure of what to expect, and it has transformed me into a huge Coldplay fan! I went and bought both their albums, Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head. Both CD's are fabulous, and this DVD caps off a great collection of sounds. The menu on the DVD is fabulously produced, and easy to use. The only complaint I had with the DVD is the camera work is a little too "jumpy" for my liking, I wish it would focus on each member of the band for a little longer. Anyways, this sure is a great buy. The lighting in the show is incredible, whenever I watch Yellow I get shivers down my back. They way it explodes from dark blue, moody lighting to exciting yellow light is A-1. Great buy, great DVD, great band! Highly reccomended. 5 Stars!
Free Music Review: Review of the Asian HDCD Edition (CD only) Hit: 5 Stars
I have some of Coldplay's studio albums, and frankly, they don't hold a candle to the live performances. There's no zing zang zip to the studio stuff. It's kind of pedantic, unenergetic, bland, and...well...plain boring. Live 2003 is the polar opposite. I can only conclude that the studio work is necessary for them to write and flesh out their new material, but it's in live performance that the songs actually breath...where the magic happens. This band, more than any other I've come across, needs to be heard in its live incarnation. Coldplay sucks up the energy from that audience, concentrates it, changes it, then spits it back out at them gloriously. I'm going to upset some people, but I'd say avoid the studio albums and go for their live discs and some concert tickets.
Free Music Review: An Unbelievable Compilation! A Must for Any Coldplay Fan! Hit: 5 Stars
This is by far one of the best live cds I have ever heard and seen. I have heard a lot of live albums and the problem with lots of them is that the bands sound like crap live but Coldplay has the same great sound in concert as they do on their albums. The Dvd is really awesome and reminded me of how great their show really was. Another review of this album said that all their songs were the same as on the albums and they didn't change anything. And that is total bull!!! I own everyone of the coldplay cds including the limited print Blue Room EP and they did add things and make changes to their songs to make them even better. Overall I feel that if you like Coldplay you should buy this cause you will not be disappointed by the quality and energy on this set.
Free Music Review: This Set is Bad A**! Hit: 5 Stars
Both the DVD and CD get 5 stars, both are excellent, I can't say enough good things about them. The DVD is the next best thing to seeing them live and the CD makes a great addition to their two previous CD's. The previously un-released "Moses" ... which was written for the beautiful Gwenyth Paltrow, and "One I Love" make the CD alone worth the money.I only have two problems with this collection. One, the sound on the DVD is so much clearer than the CD. Second, is the absence of "The Scientist" on the CD. Then again, "The Scientist" is so much more moving when you can actually see Chris Martin at the piano, singing with all his heart. Overall, it is still a must have for Coldplay fans!
Free Music Review: About time for a live CP CD Hit: 5 Stars
I love this album. I'm glad they decided to put out a live disc. The DVD is great. Camera can get a little weird and annoying sometimes though, but you get used to it. CD is great, but lacks "Scientist", but I can live without it, because the unreleased tracks make up for it. "One I Love" strikes resemblance to an old U2 tune, which is cool. "Moses" is solid and decent. My favorite track on the CD and DVD is probably "A Rush Of Blood To The Head", just because it's been my fav CP song since I became a fan. "Yellow" has a cool intro, which is enjoyable. Those of you who have "P" and "ARBH" should complete your CP collection with "CP Live 2003". Good stuff.
