Free Music Notes for Prospekt's March

Free Music Review: A Fine Collection of Songs
Hit: 4 Stars

This Ep is composed mainly of outtakes from Cold plays "Viva la Vida" album, so you might expect that the level would be somewhat lesser than the "motheralbum". In my opinion this is not the case. Apart from the rather short playing time, the EP actually works well as a small album.

This, of course, is due to the fact that the EP offers a handful of very fine songs. Not the least vocal version of "Life in Technicolor" is a highlight. "Glass of Water" and "Rainy Day" are both fine compositions that easily could have been used on the "Viva" album. The acoustic closing number "Now My Feet Will not Touch the Ground" is a perfect conclusion to a fine release. If you, as I do, enjoy "Till Kingdom Come" from "X&Y" "Now My Feet Will not Touch the Ground" will be a safe "hit".

Free Music Review: Mostly Gems, a couple turds
Hit: 4 Stars

Coldplay's Viva La Vida is a great release, and this EP is overall a very good expansion of that album. The new version of Life in Technicolor with lyrics is different yet adds a lot to the song. Tracks 2-5 are almost entirely new material, most of it exceptional, especially Glass of Water. However, 6, Lost with Jay Z is ridiculous. Silly. Keep Jay Z far away from Coldplay as possible. The remix of Lovers in Japan is unnecessary as well, as it is so similar. At least it's unoffensive. The last track is original and worth it as well.

This EP is worth buying for the new material, and if you are a Coldplay collector, the other versions of Lost and Lovers in Japan may interest you as well. Now to delete that horrid Lost + track...

Free Music Review: If you liked Viva La Vida...
Hit: 4 Stars

...it's definitely worth your while to get this EP. Like previous reviewers I feel the majority of these tracks are strong enough to have gone onto the main album -- I'm sure there were other factors at work in not including them.

It's pretty much the same "feel" as Viva La Vida. Prospekt's March, Rainy Day and Glass of Water were standout new songs for me, and I liked Life in Technicolor II (longer version w/vocals). Probably the only "off" moment was the Lost+ remix, but that may be personal bias since Lost wasn't one of my faves off the main album anyway.

Free Music Review: Not Bad
Hit: 4 Stars

Nothing special here. I bought Viva La Vida and really liked that album so I bought this for more Coldplay. In a way you are just buying the same songs twice. There are a few new ones on here but nothing that will blow you out of the water. Lost and Lovers in Japan are pretty much the same songs but with Jay-Z and somewhat of a remix respectively. If you can buy this cheap I would recomend it but wouldn't over pay for it. For Coldplay fans it's something to add to the collection.

Free Music Review: More great music from a great band
Hit: 4 Stars

Coldplay gives us more tracks from the recording of "Viva La Vida". The beginning is a continuation of "Life In Tecnicolor", this time with lyrics. The captivating sound is further explored with great lyrics. The album continues with 4 new songs not included on the album, along with a remastered version of "Lovers In Japan" and possibly their best song "Lost", this time with an added verse from Jay-Z. Its a great album, with some new songs, at a really good price.
