Free Music Review: Common "Be"ing not-common, this is classic material
Hit: 5 Stars

Be- Possibly the best opening song to a cd I've heard in a while I mean this is great (10/10)

Corners- Kanye on the hook, Common spitting fire overall good song not as good as Be but still good(9/10)

Go- This is still better than most stuff today though I don't love it, it's still good stuff (8/10)

Faithful- Love this beat and Common really coming on this track (10/10)

Testify- Like the beat, like the hook, like the overall feel of the song, pretty good (9/10)

Love Is- Great Song, I love it, man every song on here is good what can I say...(9/10)

Chi-City - Shout-out to his hometown, good vibe nice verse and good scratches on the hook (10/10)

The Food- Great song one if not my favorite, recorded live on the Chappelle Show, Kanye on the hook, Common spitting knowledge, great song overall (10/10)

Real People- Lots of horns, instrumental hook good verses, nice overall vibe (8/10)

They Say- My favorite song. Kanye and John Legend on it, John with a nice hook, and Kanye comes in and kills a verse with Common rapping two of his own its just a really good song in my eyes (12/10)

It's Your World/ Pop's Reprise- Final track good overall song doesn't hurt the album at all then the last two minutes theres just these kids and this old guy talking which is kinda weird when hes like "Be the best swimmer out of 500,000" but its all good (8/10)

Free Music Review: A Classic among many by Common
Hit: 4 Stars

Be is truly indeed a hip-hop classic in all terms of the word. The chemistry between Kanye West and Common is palpable as soon as you hear the intro, which gives you a 70s type of feel. This is the first Common album that I have purchased. Since buying it I also came to own Electric Circus and Like water for chocolate and, comparatively looking at all three I see how much Kanye's influence is on this album in that it's so formulated. It doesn't feel as experimental as Electric Circus nor as funky as like water for chocolate. In my opinion, contrary to most beliefs, electric circus was a transition from like water for chocolate, because it has this funky sound that is basically non-existent in be. So be, in effect, is a throwback to common's earlier work, and because of Kanye's influence it also lacks the depth of songs like A song for assata from like water for chocolate, or between me you and liberation from electric circus, although it's your world comes close. So all in all Be is a great purchase but in my opinion is not as great as like water for chocolate.
Top five songs in Be:
1. It's your world
2. Faithful
3. Be intro
4. Go
5. The corner

Common's be is clearly the best album of the year. It provides real street auto-biographical emotion and heart with poetic lyricism. Every song is good. One of the best Hip-Hop/albums ever created regardless its genre. Must BUY!

Free Music Review: The Common Circus. (****)
Hit: 4 Stars

After the universally rejected (or so the media say, personally I didn't mind it) Electric Circus by the Hip-Hop community, I think a lot of people had written Common off as going the way of obscurity via his at the time girlfriend Erykah Badu, having from what I've heard a stong influence on his music (it's always the girlfriend ain't it!). It seems tho with the release of Go a lot of haters have jumped on the 'Common is the saviour of Hip-Hop' bandwagon again, and it's not without good reason, Go is a very strong album. The production of J-Dilla and Kanye West lean themselves both to Commons style but then with two of productions hottest properties doing your album one could almost say that Common doesn't have to do much to have a decent record under his belt. to argue this point would be futile though because he does. For me though he doesn't bring it as hard or seem to be having as much fun as he was on such albums as Like Water For Choclate with it's songs like Dooinit and Questions. Still this album has been an opportunity unlike any other for Common to really build up his fanbase beyond your generally very fickle Hip-Hop community and for that I'm excited for him, It will be interesting what comes after this, for now though we have from Common one of 2005's more stronger releases and a must have for any head.

Free Music Review: One Word... REAL.
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been a Common fan for a while but this is the first Common album that I purchased, & I have to say I am not disappointed.

Even though it was kind of short (only 11 tracks), its more of quality that quantity in his case. Common really delievers on this one & with help from Kanye West; produced some great tracks for this album.

My favorites: "BE(Intro)"; one of the best intros for a hip-hop album. "THE CORNER"; hard lyrics & nice beat. "TESTiFY"; I love the way he tells the story of the trial, makes you feel like you were there yourself, great beat. "LOVE iS"; sweet song, love the beat. "CHi CiTY"; great song for his hometown. "THE FOOD"; I loved this when I saw it on Chappelle`s Show, so I was happy when I heard it on here, great track & great chorus by Kanye. "REAL PEOPLE"; wow, great Kanye beat, smooth & classy. "THEY SAY"; great song, John Legend sounds good on this one, Kanye`s verse is nice. I recommend this for ANY hip-hop/Kanye/Common fan, you will not be disappointed. Trust me.
