Free Music Review: Just had to say this Hit: 5 StarsI'm sorry to do this having not heard this album but, "heralded as an instant hip hop classic by some, Common's Be doesn't quite live up to the hype." Oliver Wang
Review of Finding Forever "It's no small feat to follow an instant classic like Common's Be (2005) but he skillfully builds on that success with a worthy sequel." Oliver Wang
I don't mean to be pedantic but how can you quote yourself as "some" to claim precedence when you were contradicting that very same statement yourself?
I like Common and I'm sure both of these albums are good. I might listen to them sometime
Free Music Review: Common- Be Hit: 5 Stars This is easily Commons best album. Hooking up with Kanye on this album was the best thing that Common has done in his career. Because Kanye produced this album perfectly. No joke, perfectly! I mean you can put this in and love every song. I mean the obvious songs that everyone thinks of first are the singles like "The Corner" and "Go" which are both amazing tracks. But theres more on this album and some of it is better than the singles believe it or not. Common has always been consistent with his music, never puts out a BAD album. I mean there were a couple of OK albums (Electric Circus, Can I Borrow A Dollar) but even his OK albums knock the music of today (like 50 Cent, DMX, Lil Wayne,)out of the park. I mean honestly one of the best tracks on this album is the Intro "Be". Its beat is just so cold, and Commons verse is off the chain. And then another stand out track is the calming "Love Is..." which was produced by the late J Dilla. And then "Faithful" is another stand out track that features Mr. Legend. I mean there is no use in trying to pick standout tracks because there is not just one, there is 11 which is the whole album. Common is easily the best and most talented rapper of the last 10 years. Easily. I mean in my eyes anything Common Releases is better than whats out there for Hip Hop music right now, because all the other rappers have the same one dimensional game. Almost all of the other rappers out there right now (50 Cent, Lil Flip, DMX, Lloyd Banks ect.) rap about three things... Partying, Money, and Killing. Thats it. And thats ok in small doses. But its just good to know that someone still has there mind strait enough to make great soul- hip-hop music thats refreshing to hear considering the climate of hip hop right now and thats the role Common has been playing for 7 albums now. And this album is just another testiment to his skills. BUY IT!
Grade:
A+
Free Music Review: They say life is a game so I play hard Hit: 5 StarsBe is an album that will be absolved by its critics as time progresses. This effort by Common is seamless, from start to a triumphant finish, "It's Your World." This is an 05' gem along with Little Brother's Minstrel Show.

Free Music Review: One of the greats from the 21st Century Hit: 5 StarsIts one of the best rap albums from the 21st century and if you hear it, its hard to deny this. Common dropped an amazing album in 2005 after hooking up with the powerhouse producer, Kanye West. The album is under 45 minutes long, its short but I wish there was more because this is THAT good. He certainly will be a powerhouse rapper in the mainstream that will bring wonderful music like this album. Let's breakdown the album...
We start off with the intro aka the title track. I have never seen a rapper throw such wonderful lyrics into an intro. Common just drops amazing stuff here. With about one minute of rhymes, I wish this track was longer. The beat just brings the replay value up. 10/10
We then go on to the dark, but lyrically "The Corner". Common drops some knowledge here about growing up in the hood. Kanye does a few lines for the chorus then you hear...The Last Poets. Which drop even more knowledge about the hood. "The corner was our Rock of Gibraltar". Good stuff here. The verse is amazing, outshining the rest of the song. 9/10
We then go to the soulful, "Go". Here, Common shows off about a girl(or various girls)."Little red corvette now she was faster". I admit the song gets a bit trying when Kanye says "Go" WAY too many times. One time around per chorus would have been good and it hurts the song or atleast the replay value. 8.5/10
"Faithful" is just that. And who better to bring in to sing than John Legend. I admit I wish he would have done more, he only sings at the end of the song but the sampled chorus doesn't hurt the song. "What if God was a her?" Best song thus far. 10/10
Next comes "Testify". It describes a court scene, seems like backstabbing. I admit the sampling throughout the song is very annoying and brings the song down but its still a good song and Common shows off his story telling skills. Good track. 8.5/10
On "Love Is...", Common outdoes all the previous tracks and one of the best tracks on the whole album. Its so soulful and it doesn't disappoint, just amazing stuff. Well job done. And might I add why this track is so nice...its produced by the amazing late Dilla. 10/10
"Chi-City" is yet another solid track that you will be going back many times. He even pays homage to Jay-z on a few lines, saying "My man retired, I'ma take over". Very solid. More of a rap track then the soulful tracks on this CD. 9.2/10
Next comes the live version which some may have seen on the Chappelle's Show, "The Food". Kanye re-appears on the chorus and this time he came correct. Like the previous track, its more of a rap song than soulful and a solid track. Talking about living in the ghetto and getting money, working hard, just to put food on the table. Very nice and Kanye even shows us some singing at the end. You hear the cheers from the crowd. 9/10
On "Real People", Common returns with the soulful feel with a touch of jazz and rap. The result is amazing. The title of the track says it all. A tribute to the real people who work hard and their everyday lives. Short but it delivers 10/10
We finally see Kanye drop some bars on "They Say". Doesn't really outshine Common's verses but his swag is very nice at the beginning of his verse. Nice touch with John Legend singing the chorus. Which I think didn't really go well, but it doesn't ruin the song. 9/10
The album ends on an amazing note and sums up the albums theme and title on, "It's Your World". Common saved the best for last. Dropping some of his best verses in his career. Wonderful feel beat. Just wait you think the knowledge dropping ends, we hear some kids telling each other what they want to be when they grow up and then we hear Pops drop some very inspiration words. It will make you think after you hear it. The basic them is...what do you wanna be? Think about it, Common wanted you to think about it. 10/10
Closing Comments: Ending on a wonderful note, making you think, which you shouldn't if you're gonna pick this album up. Its one of the best rap albums this millennium, and yes, I have listened to many albums, I know what I think, note it isn't fact but its my opinion, so don't get all pissed off at me. Its 5 stars, point-blank.
-Peace
