Free Music Notes for Finding ForeverFree Music Review: I know your thinkin that it must be/armor all flow cause it never get rusty- Hit: 5 Stars
A little over 2 years from releasing his classic album "BE", Common returns with another undeniable classic entitled "Finding Forever"...With the majority of production handled by Mr. KanYe West himslef, Common sounds as comfortable as ever on top of some of the best hip hop production over the past 2 years...
Common manages to balance street raps (The Game, Start The Show, Southside), with Soul and Jazz samples (Break My Heart, Missunderstood, Forever Begins) better than anyone in the rap game today...
While Common manages to go at it alone with the only guest rapper coming from KanYe in the Chi-town anthem "Southside", he does have assistance from some excellent singers on the album...Lily Allen assists on the 3rd single "Drivin Me Wild"...while DeAngelo appears on the late J Dilla produced "So Far To Go"...
From the opening intro to the final track, Finding Forever accomplishes what few hip hop albums manage to do...A COMPLETE ALBUM with no skippable tracks and no filler just pure GOOD music laced on each track...
In 2005, Common and Kanye had arguably the top 2 hip hop albums of the year, and 2007 might just be a repeat performance as this one sits at the top and waits for the arrival of Graduation in September to contend for the #1 spot again...Grammy noms are a sure bet for Common once again!!!
My top 5...
1. Break My Heart
2. Southside
3. Drivin Me Wild
4. I Want You
5. Forever Begins
Free Music Review: Forever has been found Hit: 5 Stars
Like many other, I had a hard time believing, that Common and Kanye could make a followup to Be, with equal masterpiece-status. They succeded. Shame on me for not believing in them! Common being my favorite rapper and Kanye my favorite producer, I owe them an apology.
Some may think that the intro is out of place, but to me, it provides the kind of feeling that tells you, that something big and beautiful awaits you on the following 11 tracks. Like Allhiphop.com wrote, Finding Forever is Flawless, and I can only agree. Of course all the Kanye produced tracks are great, but the Will.I.Am produced "I Want You", which has recieved alot of criticism for ruining the album, is also amazing. J Dilla provides "So Far To Go", which is slightly different then the one on "The Shining". Kanyes cousin Devo Springsteen produces "Misunderstood", one of the best tracks, featuring the well-known Nina Simone sample. All in all, this is a true masterpiece, if Common can't live forever through music after this, there's no justice left in the world.
And 1 last thing: I really can't believe that the other reviwer said, that the ending track, featuring pops, Forever Begins, was weakly produced, with a awful chorus! WHAT?!?!?! It's pure beaty, the beat is so soulful, and the chorus gives me goosebums E-V-E-R-Y time i hear it.
Beyond Classic
Free Music Review: FINDING IS BETTER THAN 5 Stars
MUSICALLY, REPLAY VALUE, LYRICALLY AND PRODUCTION WISE...FINDING FOREVER IS SLIGHTLY BETTER THAN "BE"...EVEN THOUGH "BE" WAS A BEAUTIFUL ALBUM TO LISTEN TO AS WELL. ITS A VERY GOOD ARGUMENT WHICH ALBUM IS ACTUALLY BETTER...U MAY LIKE "BE"...YOUR FRIEND MAY LIKE "FINDING FOREVER"...BUT THAT FACT THAT COMMON HAS GIVEN US 2 ALBUMS SO GOOD THAT THEY BOTH WILL BE CONSIDERED CLASSIC'S IS A TESTAMENT TO COMMONS'S HARD WORK AND ABILITY TO PUT OUT QUILTY MUSIC.
FROM THE "INTRO" ON FINDING FOREVER..TO "THE GAME"...TO "SOUTHSIDE"....TO "I WANT YOU"...TO "MISUNDERSTOOD"... ALL THE WAY TO "FOREVER BEGINS"..EVERY TRACK IS DAMN NEAR FLAWLESSSS. KAYNE WEST HAS TURNED COMMON INTO AN RAP ICON, SAVING COMMON FROM HIS ELETRIC CIRCUS ALBUM AND PEOPLE SAYING HE HAD FELL OFF WITH THAT ALBUM, EVEN THOUGH I ACTUALLY LIKED ELECTRIC CIRCUS. WE NEED TO ALL THANK KAYNE WEST FOR REVIVING COMMON'S GREAT CAREER. COMMON AND KAYNE ARE 2 FOR 2 SO FAR "2 CLASSIC'S" EVEN THOUGH FINDING FOREVER IS BETTER THAN "BE" OVERALL. NOW LET'S SEE IF COMMON CAN TOP "FINDING FOREVER" A YEAR OR TWO FROM NOW. I'LL ENJOY THIS CLASSIC FOR THE TIME BEING AND HOPEFULLY MANY MORE TO COME FROM THE RAPPER CALLED "COMMON".
FINAL VERDICT IS :
"BE"..4 1/2 STARS
"FINDERING FOREVER.."5 STARS"
Free Music Review: An Amazing Piece Hit: 5 Stars
Finding Forever, the seventh album by Common, precedes new subject matter and different things for probing social amplitude, making soulful feel to it, and taking priority of Common's abstractions for the game, which is previously modeled by The Roots. Grown from his underground tableau to Hip-Hop ultimatum, Common controverts that rhymes while engaging with consecutive Kanye West Production since Be collabo. Here, one can listen Common is no other to Black Thought of The Roots. Those who expect such 90's-ness end up noticing Finding Forever beats inbetween its progressive intuition and the conforming elation. "U, Black Maybe" remains yet remindful of "The Food (Dave Chappell Show Live)," the first single cut, from Be. By every conceivable means, the most tasteful are "The Game"/"The People," both of which are under Kanye West Production. Not to mention, "Drivin' Me Wild Feat. Lily Allen" being Jedi mind. Kanye West has worked on Can't Tell Me Nothing mixtape recently and, in "Stronger," has made use of multiple synthesizers as ?uestlove and Jay Dee have on Electric Circus in 2002. At this point, the mush-up beat only delivers collective underground sound leaving Common make a furnished epoch. Act now and add Finding Forever, Chicago's finest conscious rap masterpiece.
Free Music Review: Another Common Classic Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is the best hip hop release for 2007, hands down. Unlike some reviewers on here who just discovered Common with "Be" two years ago, I've been a Common fan since he first hit the scene. Having said that, one thing that is irking me about these reviews is the constant comparisons to "Be". I think if you are going to do comparisons, rank this album along with his others, not just "Be." Honestly, as a longtime fan, "Be" was aight, but it wasn't his best CD. Don't get me wrong, it was still on heavy rotation with no skips, but it wasn't my favorite.
All my real Common fans out there know that "Like Water for Chocolate" has that #1 spot. :) All of Common's CDs deliver though, which is more than you can say for a lot of other artists.
As far as "Finding Forever", my favorites are "The People", "The Game", "Black Maybe", "Break My Heart"...okay wait, I'ma end up listing all the songs! hahaha
No, but really, I'm really feeling "Southside" and "I Want You", and when I buy a Common CD, I'm always looking forward to "Pops". I think that's so cool that Common alway has "Pops" doing the outro...and I love his voice too.
Bottom Line: Great CD, definitely go cop it, it's hot. Next up is Kanye which I'm really looking forward to.
