Free Music Notes for Concert for George AlbumFree Music Review: Nostalgic but not really entertaining. Hit: 3 Stars
The songs were and are great. The premise of the concert is great. The performers, unfortunately, WERE great, but many of them are losing their vocal ranges. I am particularly disappointed in Jeff Lynn, who sounds like he is a 45 RPM record being run at 33 RPM. McCartney at least has some vocal stretch left; Clapton and Petty are middle-of-the-road on this. I don't really think this CD was worth the money. All the songs seem a little too dreary...are they too slow in tempo? Is it the concert venue? Something is just not energetic enough on these classic songs, and it depresses me to listen to it.
