Free Music Notes for Consolers of the LonelyFree Music Review: Go and ask the milkman Hit: 5 Stars
Consolers Of The Lonely grows on me with each time I listen to it. At first there was no sure-fire hit like "Steady, As She Goes", but this is a solid collection through and through. Right now "The Switch and The Spur" is my favorite, with the Western theme, horns, piano, and of course Jack White's guitar. The title track is a straightforward guitar driven head banger, but others songs like "You Don't Understand Me" and "Old Enough", mix it up stylistically and musically, throwing in piano, organ, and violin, as well as the previously mentioned horns. Unlike other albums that are very front loaded, Consolers does not have any real weak stretches or filler, and the last three songs are just as good if not better than the first three. I could imagine pretty much any song being on someone's favorite list. Quickly becoming one of my favorites of the year, definitely the best rock album so far.
Free Music Review: Definitely a favorite for 2008!! Hit: 5 Stars
There really isn't anything that I can add to all the superb reviews I have read today. I am a fan of Jack White, and The White Stripes, and the first Raconteurs album "Broken Boy Soldier" took a few times of listening through it before it grew on me. It became one of my favorites, and I didn't know what to expect with Consolers of the Lonely. After listening to it many times, I can honestly say there isn't one song on this album that I don't love. It's a classic- I think it's genius. And it's true what they say about The Raconteurs putting on an unbelievably awesome live show. We just saw them on the 28th, and they rocked the house down! I have seen many performers in my lifetime, and I can honestly say this is THE BEST concert I have attended. If you get a chance to see them live, don't pass it up, you won't regret it!!
Free Music Review: a sensational straight-ahead killer rock album Hit: 5 Stars
I'm on my 10th-12th listen of this album and it is really one of the best rock albums I've heard this decade. It brings back so much of what was so excellent about late 70's rock (though, it by no means has a 70's feel)...so then what do I mean? I think it is the resulting beauty of the straight-forward but thoughtful lyrics, the tempo changes within songs, the crunchy delicious guitars, and the delight in having two lead singers take on different songs. It is extremely well-produced and an absolute pleasure to listen to. It's never pretentious and seems rahter devoid of ego. I always feel good listening to it and love the "stories". I am so proud of this work and am glad someone finally took this sort of thing on. It will forever remain in my collection and always bring a smile to face. Fantastic.
Free Music Review: Wunderbar. Hit: 5 Stars
I'm a huge White Stripes fan and I pursued this album because it falls within the genre of music that I listen to. I really liked the album, but not because I liked the White Stripes, if that makes any sense. The two bands produce two way different sounds. The White Stripes' sound is very simple basic music, which I like whereas the Raconteurs' music has a lot more going on in it. Regardless of any other musical affiliations of the members with any bands, I think "Consolers of the Lonely" is a pretty good rock album. If you've listened to their first album "Broken Boy Soldiers", I would compare them by saying that this new album is less volatile in sound from song-to-song and, in my opinion, an improvement in the sometimes boring, slow drawl of music that is "Broken Boy Soldiers".
Free Music Review: Another Home run for Jack White! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this album on it's release date and after listening to it at least a dozen times it still grows on me every time I listen to it. The first play thru I wasn't sure how I felt about it so I gave it another listen. There are at least 6 or 7 really rocking tracks on this album and the rest isn't to shabby either. All in all its a hell of a lot different than there first album but I think that they hit it out of the park with this album. Buy it now and give it several listens if you haven't already. Consolers of the Lonely is one of the better albums in it's entirety that I have heard to date. Jack White is truly one of god's gifts to great music and he puts that on display in this album. Kudos to a job well done!
