Free Music Review: One Side Too Much

18 year old Crobin Bleu may be a good actor and may have a pretty face but he's far from a good singer. Not that he's bad in any way, but his voice is just ok. He would have needed much better material to work with for starters, Corbin is only as good as the songs he's singing and this album really lacks good songs. Most of it is Dance-Pop, quite fabricated Dance-Pop that is neither personal nor interesting and sounds mostly like outtakes from a N*Sync album in the mid 90's. Infact if I didn't know that it was Corbin's album it could have been anyone's. However, not all songs are that bad though. His first single, "Push It To the Limit" which reached a fantastic #14 position of the charts (mostly thanks to his fans) is defenitely a highlight and so is the opener "Deal With It", another catchy uptempo. The only rock influenced song "She Could Be" is the best song of this album though, it's meliodic and sweet and I wonder why there weren't more songs like that on his album. Ne-Yo penned ballad "I Get Lonely" is ok, but takes several listens to enjoy. "Still There For Me" is another slow tempo that goes into one ear and out of the other while "Stop" and "Roll With You" are midtempo, the latter is ok. The rest are fabricated Dance-Pop. Songs like "Mixed Up" "We Come To Party" and "Marchin" are really unbearable. "Homework" is ok, but nothing special. Having said that, "Another Side" seems like one side too much. I'm sure that it isn't the last thing we heard from Corbin Bleu, but he should perhaps concentarte on his acting career instead or come back with better material in the future. This sounds more like a "He's cute, let's make a Pop album" then the album of a musical child prodigy. Overall vote 2'5 stars and shouldn't be bought unless you like Teen-Pop or is a big fan of him.
