Free Music Review: Corinne is as good as Carol King was in the 70's !!!

I heard Corinne Bailey Rae singing "Put your records on" while I was eating lunch in my truck at work last week. I waited to the end of the song hoping they would say who the singer was. When they said her name I wrote it down to see about looking up her music. That afternoon I bought her new (Dlx-2CDs) set. The sound is great and not since Carol King in the early 70's have I heard any women be able to sing with the talent put forth by this Lady.
While reading the footnotes I learned that she does all her own backup singing. The mix of the voices is the best I ever heard in my 53 years. I asked my oldest daughter who is into music as much as me if she ever heard of Corinne and she said no - after I lend her my CD I know she wil apperciate her "Great" sound also. I'm not a fan of most modern music as my roots are really in Western Swing, Classic Country, Bluegrass and Southern Gospel but when I hear someone who can fabricate her own music and sing at this level she surly needs to be recongnized by the music lovers of this world !!!

Free Music Review: A school program introduced me to this truly unique talent!

Almost two years ago, during the course of a school program, I heard "Like a Star" for the first time, as it was the background selection used by a dance group. I was, figuratively, blown away by Rae's mesmerizing vocals and had to hear more from the young artist.
I'm glad that I opted to buy the double CD over the original release because it offers the listener the chance to really appreciate Rae's diversity, as she tackles a variety of styles, from R & B to jazz to "torch" songs.
Corinne Bailey Rae's voice is reminiscent of so many vocal stylists like Billie Holliday and current favorite Erykah Badu; However, she is painting her own place in the musical landscape and this double-CD - especially on the covers on disc 2 - is the perfect introduction to a singer that's destined for a long career in music.

Corinne, has a sound that is smooth and caressing and makes you want to be in love, if you are not. She gives you that warm feeling all over and you find yourself having that far off thought (daydreaming) that makes you sigh with contentment. Many, of course were introduced to her with "Like a Star", and "Put your records on", but "til it happens to you" and "trouble sleeping" honestly give them a run for their money. I had recently bought this cd and when it came I had to play it. It was like opening a rare gift with refrence. I played that cd till it had put me to sleep. I had ask my bf to buy it but poor thing couldn't remember her name so i ordered it for myself. Let me say, I have been inlove with this young lady's voice since she burst on the scene in 2006. We purchased Corinne Bailey Rae, one week before we saw her in person. What a talented young lady. When I think of Corinne Bailey Rae, she defines CLASSEY. Her performance in person speaks volumes. We didn't have the best seats in the house, however, if she comes around again, we will be sure to see her. BUY THIS CD, you will really enjoy it. She is like a breath of fresh air to the music industry.
