Another great recording in Basie's career coming at the time of his classic Live At Newport album, the Atomic Basie, captures him in this very fertile period swinging with primarily the blues on this stellar collection. This rebuilt Basie band now on Roulette(Blue Note) had their own great composers moving away from the earlier freelance collaborations with Neil Hefti and Quincy Jones on their few prior releases.
Blues had been a staple of Basie and 6 0f the original 10 tracks are blues now augmented with an additional 2 bonus tracks from the original sessions coming from Chicago and New York City throughout 1958.
The 24 bit sound is great, the band stellar,the packaging and notes a winner making this one of the finer big band jazz Lps of any day.
