Free Music Notes for August and Everything AfterFree Music Review: This CD is great! Hit: 5 StarsOnce again.. the Counting Crows put out a great piece of art! The re-issue has all of the old songs you love plus a live second CD from a show in Europe.. Adam's voice sounds amazing and the band is on the night of the recording.. I listen to this CD almost everyday driving to work.
Free Music Review: AAEA + Great bonus material Hit: 5 StarsThe first CD contains the original version of August and Everything After which is what it is. Just a copy of the original which you probably already have if you are reading this review. After AAEA, there are about 6 additional tracks. All of which are unrelease and all are very good recordings. I am an avid CC fan with quite a few CC material and This Land Is Your Land is a track that I have never heard. It's a nice accoustic demo song. All additional tracks are previously unreleased with the exception of the Omaha demo.
CD number two is full of live tracks. It's a 1994 AAEA concert of excellent sound quality. No surprises in the material. There are a couple of unreleased songs like Jumping Jesus. If you are a CC fan, you've probably heard these songs.
Overall, outside of the AAEA, the recording quality is outstanding. I would highly recommend it to any CC fan as well as anyone who doesn't own a copy of AAEA. This is a great release for the new material desparate Counting Crows fan.
Free Music Review: Must have for any counting crows fan...... Hit: 5 StarsMust have for any counting crows fan, the demo songs, and the live CD are great. Stay tuned for Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings, due out in January.
Free Music Review: A great addition to the CC catalogue! Hit: 5 StarsWhile having August... remastered and the inclusion of several bonus tracks is great to have, the real reason why anyone should purchase this album is for the bonus live disk.
However, before listening to the live disk you have to read Adam Duritz' insert that gives you an amazing insight into his emotions at the time. I have been a long time CC fan, but reading his words describing the time of August's development and the tour gave me a new insight and understanding of the lyrics sung and how the songs developed from the album to the live performances. Without reading this, you cannot truely appreciate the depth of emotion of the live disk...Take my advice-be patient, hold off listening to it until you're done reading.
A must for any fan!
Free Music Review: Well worth it! Hit: 5 StarsAbsolutely spectacular! The re-release of AAEA shows how timeless this band truly is. The liner notes written by Adam D. give a very personal look into the band in their early years and are an addicting read.
The demos at the end of disc one are a nice addition, but the true piece of gold is the live show in Paris on disc two. What a show!!! The alternate lyrics, the pure emotion,... truly a difining moment for the band. Get it, get it now.
