Free Music Review: Bay Area fros unite!
Hit: 5 Stars

It was a day back in '93 when I saw a video starting off like the other precursors of puffy...a cat in a big ol' benz drivin. Next thing you know, Raymond the valet gets out and hands the keys to it's owner. He takes off his hat, and dude look just like me, a little bruh with a fro droppin lyrics i hadn't heard the likes of before. (Well if we made of that who made us/and what can we do to change us/the oppressor tries to tame us/ heres a foot for his anus). After I ordered the CD (before it was cool to use the net) I was introduced to the coup through Kill My Landlord. Since then, Boots Riley (Raymond) has been my favorite emcee. His newest installment is a classic to say the absolute least. Every beat on this track is tight and original, especially Underdogs with the snare drum. No other album in the '98 '99 is as good as this one. The ones that come close are dat Kast, Black Star, and maybe Prince Paul. But this album is by far the best. The only problem is the lack of distribution. Without the use of a modem, this album is harder to find than Jimmy Hoffa and that rare copy of Princes original Black Album. I think I'mma help Boots distribute his stuff when I get my label and distribution company up. His distribution is worse than the Movie Belly. Like Belly, "Steal This Album" is an atristic masterpiece that most of the world unfortunately will never see.

Free Music Review: THE COUP ARISE FROM THE SYSTEM!!!- STEAL THIS ALBUM!
Hit: 5 Stars

The Coup, wow, what can I say? Boots is easily the best lyricists of all time! Boots lives the life that he talks about. That's what makes this record especially unique from other acts. This is hands down the best rap/hip hop album of all time. Like Oliver say, The Coup represent the proletariat, not the green. Forget about Outkast, DMX, Jay Z! What do they rhyme about?- stackin' scrill. I'm tellin' you- this is an album like no other. You must... steal this album! Arise from the system. There is not one bad track on here. This is socio-political hip-hop at its finest. By the way, this record is better than hieroglyphics, mystik journeymen, the living legends, outkast, 2pac,prince paul, the roots, anyone. NO COMPETITION! There first 2 cd's are dope as hell- Kill My Landlord, Genocide and Juice. You must own this now! DON'T PASS UP THE BEST RAP/HIP HOP RECORD EVER! The Coup's themes include determination, injustice, love, respect, rebellion, etc.

Free Music Review: The coup returns, better than ever
Hit: 5 Stars

I had trouble deciding if this was a 5 or 4 stars cd, but the lyrics just put i into the 5 stars rating. If you've never heard of the coup, get on- the crew raps about things worth listing to, and have a live band to back them up. If your a previous fan of the coup, other than e-roc, it's the same old crew-hella good. This cd really gets you, with many songs leading into eachother, creating a cd that holds together. It's also funney, with skits and Cars and shooes, is just halarious. Dell also comes on as the repo man, something you don't want to miss. Bottem line, pick this one up if your a fan of rap, it's worth the money. -A true rap fan.

Free Music Review: Support radical hip-hop!
Hit: 5 Stars

The Coup's new album represents some of the best hope for politically-oriented radical hip hop at the turn of the new millenium. Along with Talib Kweli and Mos Def's Black Star, the Coup continues to sustain my hopes that a new social movement can be supported and strengthened by true hip-hop messengers. If you're a politically active hip-hop head or just like really funky beats and grooves, support this duo from Oakland, the hometown of the Black Panther Party! They deserve to be much higher on Amazon.com's order list!!!!

Free Music Review: This Album is right up there with Aquemini....A 1998 Classic
Hit: 5 Stars

Boots and Pam the Funkstress are back for their third Album, "Steal This Album" (Sans E-Roc, who guests on "Breathing Apparatus"). Not only are the Coup in perfect political form on tracks like "Repo Man Sings for You" with Del the Funky Homosapien, and "Busterismology" for examples, but they are also kickin' mad funk. This album is musically crazy and lyrically tight, and truly the best Hip Hop album of the year, maybe second only to Outkast's "Aquemini".
