Free Music Review: Two greats collaborate

Coverdale/Page is an outstanding hard rock album that merges two great talents, David Coverdale (vocalist) and Jimmy Page (guitar). This is a great album. Period. I've read the negative things written about it and I don't understand why so many people are comparing it to Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin and this band are two different bands. Jimmy Page is already a legend, so he has done what he has wanted to do since the breakup of Led Zeppelin. If he wants to record with David Coverdale, fine. If he wants to be in a band called The Firm, fine. If he wants to release a solo album, fine. If he wants to collaborate with Robert Plant, fine. The man has to make a living. Sure, the bands he's been in during the post-Zeppelin years can't really match the talent level of Led Zeppelin, but who can? When it comes to this album, judge it on its own merits. Take it at face value. It is what it is. Now about the album.
Shake My Tree plain rocks. Coverdale's vocals are grindy, but that makes it cool. Waiting On You is a good melody. Take Me For A Little While is one of the best tunes on the whole album. Great acoustic guitar blended with electric. Over Now is a more melancholy tune but still rocks. Easy Does It is my favorite song on the album. Great acoustic guitar melody, lyrics and vocals. The second half of the song rocks heavily and Coverdale sounds a little bit like Robert Plant in some parts. Don't Leave Me This Way is a great song, kind of bluesy. Whisper A Prayer For The Dying is outstanding with a slow beginning, a great guitar riff and a second half of the song that rocks.
I highly recommend this album for anybody who wants to just plain rock. This album is far better than the garbage that's out there today by bands with no talent. Why? It's because two giants got together and made a great record. These guys can make an album in their sleep and it would be ten times better than the junk that's out there these days. Buy this.
