Free Music Notes for The Trinity SessionFree Music Review: sexy and slow as molasses Hit: 5 Stars
I am immersed in peace and light-hearted wistfulness when I listen to this gorgeous album - a strange sort of longing that tugs at me, although I don't know where it wants me to go. I feel like I'm riding in an old convertible under the full moon with the wind in my hair, singing to myself and watching the highway disappear beneath me. "Blue Moon Revisited" makes my heart ache in its crushing beauty, but in a good way. A very well-done album by some immensely talented people which will mellow you out any time you're in need of an escape. Instantly a favorite of mine, although I got it only a few days ago.
Free Music Review: This is and will always be my most favorite CD Hit: 5 Stars
The Trinity Session is one of those rare CD's that can be listened to repeatedly and each time you are amazed by it & appreciate it more. I've been to the church were it was recorded and tried to imagine being there when it was captured live back in 87. All the songs are great. The best is "Misguided Angel" which reminds us that we choose who we love regardless of what others think. I've seen the "Junkies" live a number of times and they always manage to bring us along on their mystic & soulful journey by allowing everyone to share in the experience of their beautiful music.
Free Music Review: This is a must-have; beautifully haunting. Hit: 5 Stars
Granted, I am a sucker for a woman with a beautiful voice, but I think that Margot takes the cake. Her voice is extremely thick and sensuous, so much so that each note practically drips from the air. Mix that sensuousness with a melancholy reminiscent of Emmet Kelly and you have a recipe for vocals that will make your spine tingle. But, unlike many mis-matched bands of today, her voice serves merely as another instrument in the band, seamlessly blending in with the tapestry that her bandmates weave, giving the feeling that they are truly one with their music. I could not live without this album.
Free Music Review: Impressed! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this CD used because I liked "Sweet Jane." I heard it on the radio about 15 years or so ago, but was too [out of it] to get the name of the group. I recently heard the song again on a public radio station and ... I was in a better position to get the artist's name. I have never heard of the Cowboy Junkies and I'm not familiar with their other work, but this is a very good CD. The muscians take me back to the day's when country music was good and her vocal range is excellent. In fact, spooky! I'm not sure if country is the right category for this CD, but it's delightfully different!
Free Music Review: A Hauntingly Beautiful Album Hit: 5 Stars
The Cowboy Junkies are a great band and Margo Timmins has a beautiful voice. The Trinity Session is possibly their best album. It contains some really great cover songs, including Hank Williams' I'm So Lonesome I COuld Cry, Blue Moon and the best cover of the Velvet Underground's Sweet Jane. It also has some great originals, such as Misguided Angel and 200 More Miles, which shows the bands songwriting ability. All the songs are really good. This is just a great album and a great introduction to The Cowboy Junkies.
