Free Music Review: As cool as the cover.
Hit: 4 Stars

I 1st heard of ther cramps on the Return Of The Living Dead Soundtrack. Then went out an bought this disc. While Songs the Lord Taught Us is the better album. This "best of" collection is very good if you are on a budget. The 1st 2 tracks are quite possible the two best songs in the entire Cramps cannon. Garbage Man is a put down of sorts to the people who decide what is punk and what's not, with some awsomely cool guitar howls from Brian Gregory, and the best inuendo line ever "stick out your can. I'm the garbageman". New Kind Of Kick is just as good. With Lux lamenting that he is just a emotional baby and there are just not enough drugs to take(energy, formaldeide, helium). He really makes quite possible every vocal noise immaginable, while the guitars play a simple 5 chord assention/desention, and the drums go wild. From then on things calm down a bit but there are really no bad songs on the entire disc.

Free Music Review: Good to great collection of The Cramps early years
Hit: 4 Stars

For those who never heard of the Cramps, and there are too many of you, the music was great fusion of rockabilly, surf rifts, and punk with lyrics largely inspired by science fiction and monster B-movies circa 1962. Their live shows are legendary, which is good since I've always found their recorded work somewhat uneven. They have incredible longevity for what could easily have been a throwaway novelty act.

This is a good collection of their early work. Highlights for me are Garbageman, Save It, and Human Fly. Other songs are good to OK, and range from just plain silly (She Said) to a tad disturbing (TV Set). In my opinion, the Cramps don't deserve the godlike worship they've received in some places, including previous reviews. But they are way underappreciated, and this is a good place to start if you're new to them.

Free Music Review: Good Stuff
Hit: 4 Stars

This is a fun, crazy, creative and wonderful cd. I was introduced to The Cramps only a few months ago late at night while watching an indie music channel. At first I was a bit surprised by the stage presence, but after seeing the video for "She Said" and "Goo Goo Muck" I have to say, it's one of the best things about music. Lux Interior is a complete joy to listen to, his crazy style and stage antics grow on you and before you know it you have their songs in your head. Sadly it seems not a lot of people know about The Cramps. I do hope this cd and this band get the recognition they deserve.

Definitely pick up this cd for some good music.

Noteworthy songs from the cd: Garbageman, New Kind of Kick, She Said and Human Fly.

Free Music Review: Great
Hit: 4 Stars

This cd is definetely a great introduction to the Cramps music, though my favorite Cramps is a Date With Elvis. Anyway, I highly reccommend this for anyone who likes rock and roll in general, though you might like them more if you're into punk. This really is a great cd from a great band, however before buying this, I'd definetely reccomend buying Fire Of Love or Miami, by the Gun Club, who hands down, were my favorite musicians of the Physcobilly/Cow-punk era. But the Cramps are close.

Free Music Review: Lookin' for something I ain't had before.
Hit: 4 Stars

The Cramps are a band that plays rockabilly influenced punk (or punk influenced rockabilly). This CD is a compilation of the "best" songs from their first three records. It's a good introduction to the group, although a bit short at 31 minutes running time. But it would be a good first Cramps CD to get, if you wanted to hear what the group's all about.
