Free Music Notes for Crazy/BeautifulFree Music Review: Crazy/Beautiful Soundtrack Hit: 4 StarsI think that the Crazy/Beautiful soundtrack is an accurate collection of the music from the movie (with the exception of David Gray's This Year's Love, which I think should've been inculded). I loved the movie, so whenever I listen to the soundtrack I reminisce about the scenes in which each song was played. I have to say that there are some songs that I do skip over, and with that I can't give this 5 stars. I listen to this cd and become very calm, but it is interupted completely by songs such as, Mellow Man Ace's Ten Le Fe, Osker's Alright and Deliquent Habits' Boulevard Star. I find these songs to ruin the peacfulness and quietness of songs like, I Want To Believe In You, by Lori Carson and Paul Haslinger. There are also some very fun songs like, She Gave Me Love by the Getway People (a personal favorite) and Sumpin' by the Pimps. Each person of course has a personal opinion about everything, and may like the songs that I didn't and vice versa, but regardless, I would completely and totally advise you to buy this CD!!
Free Music Review: Better Than Average Compilation Hit: 4 StarsI don't know what's wrong with me. Maybe I'm getting soft in my old age because once upon a time -- in my younger, snobbier days -- I would've ripped a cd like this to shreds. Movies depicting teen angst and the tepid soundtracks that accompany them are a dime a dozen, yet somehow Crazy/Beautiful manages to stand out from the pack. Kirsten Dunst must have some powerful mojo to make me run out and buy this thing. Her portrayal of an out of control teenager was both heart-wrenchingly tragic and sublimely touching in all of the right places. I'm a hard-assed *itch, but she's one of the few actors that can make me almost cry. The soundtrack to this film is virtually flawless in that the songs selected perfectly compliment the actions that were taking place on screen, weaving in and out as needed, without distracting from the actors and dialogue. No high octane MTV-like quick cuts and embolism inducing bass. I do think that Amazon's Reviewer was kind of harsh though. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the majority of people who buy soundtracks aren't fooling themselves into thinking that they'll be treated to mindblowingly original music. Unless you're dealing with an artist of Bjork's calibre, that ain't gonna happen. However, if you're the type of person that likes to listen to a soundtrack to get you in the right mood -- whether it's for dancing/singing along, or daydreaming, or maybe just to remember a movie scene by scene-- then this one is for you. My only gripe is the inexcusable omission of David Gray's song "This Year's Love". It's played at a tender moment in the film and definitely should have been included. Shame on you, Hollywood Records. Cheap tricks like this are the reason music fans will always continue to share files online. RIAA be damned. P.S. Reuben, the song you're looking for is called "To Be Free" by Emiliana Torrini and it is on this soundtrack.
Free Music Review: How come nobody has mentioned one of the coolest songs? Hit: 4 StarsOkay. This soundtrack is pretty solid from top to bottom. I agree that the "David Gray" song is a song that should have been on the soundtrack as well.My biggest question for all you music afficionados is my search for the name of the song that was playing when Carlos uses the hall pass and Kirsten Dunst's character is singing a song while she's sitting under the tree. I could be way off on this, but the voice sounded somewhat like Bjorks. This song has a haunting beauty about it and it would make my day if someone could help me to finally answer this question.
Free Music Review: Collective Soul - After All Hit: 5 StarsI know many people who may be searching online are frequent visitors to pages like this, so I wanted to do my good deed for the day to help people who were wondering what song was being played in the airplane scene in Crazy/Beautiful. I saw another post on here referring to that song as Collective Soul's song "Turnaround"... This is wrong. The song is by Collective Soul and is called "After All". It sounds similar to "Turnaround" and is also on Collective Soul's new Cd "Blender" I know at least one person was looking for this info. If you want to hear the song, in the post-Napster age.. you should get Bearshare or another program that runs on the Gnutella network and download until your heart is content. It is a shame that the Collective Soul song and the David Gray song were not included on the Soundtrack, they are both very good songs.
Free Music Review: best movie ever Hit: 5 StarsI'd even rate this movie with 10 stars if possible. it's such a great film 'bout being crazy and having fun and just living. I think it speaks out of every 17-years-old's heart. The music is just incredible. For those who haven't seen it: run to the next video-rental and get it.
