Free Music Notes for The Very Best of Cream

Free Music Review: The Cream: a mythological trio
Hit: 5 Stars

Imagine the ensemble : Eric Clapton guitar , Jack Bruce bass and Ginger Baker in drums. This team is in the rock music something like The New York Yankees in Major Leagues.
Powerful rhytms , advanced ideas and keep in mind that every one of these super gifted musician were among the top list in every one of his instruments.
Think in classical rock themes as The White Room , Badge, In the sunshine of your love , The tales of Brave Ulysses or Politician.
If you're a teenager, or even not, this album is a must for you because it's a decisive turning point in the rock music .
Cream was a status ensemble and still we can feel his powerful influence in certain bands.
A must in your collection.

Free Music Review: Extra Cream in the Brew
Hit: 5 Stars

My first introduction to Cream was a song on the classic rock station called "Crossroads" and I loved the way Clapton and Bruce played the lead gitar/bass duo-melodies in the instrumental part, kind of like Yes did in "Then". Although I am not a fan of blues, I do like a beat and most of thier songs have a beat that sets them apart from blues. This collection spans thier 66-69 carear together(I was born only a year after thier last song was published in 1969 so I missed 'em.). Songs like "I'm so Glad", "I feel Free" Where Ginger Baker played his melodic drum kit, and the haunting "Tales of Brave Ulysses" as well as the ever classic hit "White room" and of course "Crossroads" are my favorite songs and easily stick in my mind enough for me to play the CD once more. Yes, this band can be compared to blues, but if you like classic rock I promise you'll love this!

Free Music Review: Best.Band.Ever.
Hit: 5 Stars

From the opening notes of Wrapping Paper to the end of Badge, this album is the best classic rock you will ever hear.I should call it rock because music today is just crap, especially compared to this. This album is the best you will ever buy.Their music is still as fresh as it was when it was released(The bridge on Badge stll gets me going).Being in a band with E.C., Jack Bruce was way underrated, even tough he wrote most of the songs. He's problably one of the best bass players of all time too. These guys made songs that made(still do)you want to get up, start playing your air guitar, and just rock out.Best.Band.Ever.(LOL)

Free Music Review: 4.5 stars - great band, great compilation
Hit: 4 Stars

No one can deny that Cream was one of the greatest classic hard rock bands of all time. With the talents of Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Jack Bruce combined, the results could only be good. Like just about any classic rock band out there, Cream has had a number of hits compilations released over the years - and this is one of many. Read on for my review of the Very Best of Cream.

PROS:
-If you're a casual fan who is seeking all of the big hits the group released over the years, you've come to the right place! Strange Brew, Sunshine of Your Love, White Room, Crossroads, Badge, and all the other tracks you have come to know and love can be found here.
-In addition to the big hits, you also get a number of underrated masterpieces, including I Feel Free and I'm So Glad. There is WAY more to this band than most people think.
-It's a compilation that is readily available in a number of stores.
-The price of this compilation will make it ideal to the casual fan.
-You get TWENTY TRACKS ON ONE DISC! That makes the set a great value.

CONS:
-Many die-hard fans of the band will tell you that a few selections got deprived of their place on here, and I'm going to have to agree with that.
-If you're a casual fan of Eric Clapton in general, I recommend buying a career-spanning compilation, rather than just one that covers his Cream years (the compilation entitled the Cream of Clapton would be a good bet.)
-Cream didn't release very many albums. You're better off buying them all separately.

OVERALL:
What more can I say? If you're a casual Cream fan, I really doubt you'll be disappointed with this collection. These guys were classic hard rock gods, and this compilation proves that point twenty times over.

Free Music Review: This is a history lesson.... Great Stuff
Hit: 5 Stars

Classic British psychedelica - which clearly indicates that some of the lesser known (but still important Cream milestones) are also included. The heavy hitters are also included and the liner notes are interesting. This is a history lesson. I enjoy listening to this era, because I remember this era. Cream may have been groundbreaking, but other outfits were also in contention (i.e. Hendrix, Doors, Stones, Beatles) so the the competition was stiff. That said, one has to realize that this music was introduced during a period when recording engineering was really just coming out of its infancy (when compared to the tools in use today). So, some of the tracks (the early ones) have a cheesy sound. Beatle records of this same period had a much better sound quality due to the fact that the Beatles (corp) was dumping a lot of money into state of the art equipment on which to record... Sgt Peppers was recorded on what... 4 or 8 tracks and THAT was a HUGE step forward technologically. All in all this is a good compilation/retrospect that documents Cream. In that regard it has value. I guess one could say, it's a groovy record... and it did take me back... I started thinking about other groups like Vanilla Fudge, Big Brother, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Moby Grape, and was wondering if it all sound this dated (and yes it did!) oh there were some groups which weighed in heavy, groundbreaking, perhaps the Experience (Hendrix), Cream, Doors but British psychedelica was different than the American version, in some respects a little tamer with only a few exceptions (Hendrix and Cream), the rest of the British scene were hold over "invasion" bands --gettin' heavy-- back then it didn't seem that way, but in retrospect that's what the musical legacy has left the listener with. It was another time, pop bands got groovy and a few newcomers came onto their own or evolved into different groups with much more to say. You have to appreciate that when giving this a listen.
