Free Music Notes for Greatest Hits (w/ Bonus DVD)

Free Music Review: An Excellent Collection.
Hit: 5 Stars

Let's be straight forward for a minute. Creed was THE biggest band at the turn of the millenium. I don't have to stretch the truth when I say they were the most popular band of the late 1990's and early 2000's. Their albums sold huge, all going many, many times platinum and all having many hits. Ultimately though, they disbanded in 2004. Creed were not innovators of their sound, but, in my opinion, they were a good band. A lot of people may not like Creed because of frontman Scott Stapp, but disliking someone because of the rumors you've heard about them or things said is ignorant, this is about the MUSIC. Take it as that.

I do not have any of Creed's other albums besides this one, but I have heard all of them, so I am familiar with what is here. By the way, I used to own "My Own Prison" and it without a doubt my favorite Creed album. Anyway, I can say this CD has a superb selection of songs from the 3 albums. I've read other reviewers complaining about there being no unreleased tracks or tracks not from the 3 albums, but this doesn't bother me. What you get when you buy this album, is exactly the title says--Greatest Hits.

We start off the album with 4 songs from "My Own Prison". I'm glad this album got represented well. As I mentioned before, it's my favorite, and seeing "Torn", "What's This Life For", "One", and the title track is great. These songs are all excellent choices and their inclusion is a major selling-point for fans of the band's debut.

We then go to Creed's biggest album, "Human Clay", from which this includes the 4 most popular songs from it. Besides the mega-hits "Higher" and "With Arms Wide Open", we get "What If" and "Are You Ready". Once again these are great choices and I couldn't have picked them better myself.

Finally, we arrive at "Weathered", Creed's final album. We get 5 songs from that album and the choices are good. "My Sacrifice", "One Last Breath", "Bullets", "Don't Stop Dancing", and the title track are all here. After this, the album is over, but it's been a great experience.

Overall, this is a great album that I can fully recommend. The song selection is excellent and besides that, this is a good package. It comes with a bonus DVD which has all of the band's videos and 3 live songs. The live version of "Torn" is awesome and the energy is very high. Also, I must say this booklet is great for a compilation album. Usually, compilations have very small booklets because they were a rushed, here, we get ALL of the lyrics plus the booklet is "divided" into sections in a way for each album along with era-specific photos. In the end, it's a nice little package which I truly think adds up to be a great Greatest Hits album.

Free Music Review: A Glimpse of Greatness from the Past
Hit: 4 Stars

Hey, say what you want about Creed, but they were the biggest metal band in the world at one time...and I think, now that they have passed on...it is the right time to go back and relive some of their greatest moments. As far as a greatest hits package, this one really hits the mark, I personally, would have liked to seen "Who's Got My Back?" on there, but, other than that...this is a great collection that gets all the hits in one spot. Another part of the band that most people left overlooked, is the guitar playing of Mark Tremonti...he has received accolades worldwide, and to this day...he is one of the best out there...I'm not sure what Scott Stapp is gonna get done without this guy. But,please, give this record...and this band...a much deserved second chance, and I think that you'll find it within yourself to appreciate the passion that they put into the business.

Free Music Review: Dagger Dias reviews CREED
Hit: 5 Stars

No need to sit and give a list of points every song gets, because they are all 5 stars!

This cd is great, it is among my favorites. Right up there with Def Leppard's "Hysteria". One of my favorite cd's.

Creed was my favorite group in high school (I graduated in 2004) and every track on this cd brings back too many memories to write down. They are still one of my favorite bands, losing only to Def Leppard and Nirvana (respectively).

Creed is still around, believe it or not! They got a new singer and changed their name to Alter Bridge, they have one of their new Alter bridge songs on the fantastic 4 soundtrack, it isn't as good as their old stuff, which you get here.

DEFINATELY get this cd! ~ Dagger Dias

Free Music Review: A Solid 'Greatest Hits' Swansong From Creed...4.5 stars
Hit: 5 Stars

During their years as one of the biggest rock bands in the world, Creed established themselves as a tour-de-force rock group. Racketing up multi-million sales with their raw debut album, and even their HUMAN CLAY and WEATHER albums. While each showcased some good music that just sounds good to listen to, critics didn't buy it and most ignored Creed as just another "rip-off" band. Many of us who just like music for what it is recognize GREATEST HITS as the casual fan's, and the Creed fan's, necessary package. Compiling 13 tracks (what happened to "I'm Eighteen" from THE FACULTY soundtrack, guys?) from their three big albums, GREATEST HITS also includes a bonus DVD with all their videos, plus live performances of three songs. You can't go wrong with the anthemic "Higher"; the blistering "Weathered"; the gritty and dark "Torn" and "My Own Prison"; even "My Sacrifice" and "With Arms Wide Open" are anthems of a generation. This compilation is perfect for anyone who wants just a taste, not the whole catalog, of Creed's music.

So if you want just the basic goods of Creed, you should look no further than this solid compilation that only lacks one song that should have made the compilation (the aforementioned cover of Alice Cooper's "I'm Eighteen"). And complete with the bonus DVD, this is every Creed fan's ultimate package deal. (Here's hoping that Scott Stapp's debut album is solid...from what I've heard, it should be quite enjoyable)

Free Music Review: Best band ever....you heard me Beatles fans.
Hit: 5 Stars

Definantly the best band to ever be assembled. Jesus, himself, looked down on Earth one day and decided that he would make a band to finally entertain him and all of humanity, we got Creed!
Enough with the devil winning the rock and roll battle! Creed saved us with wonderful music that is included here on their greatest hits CD. The only question I have is why they didn't include their big hits "Jeremy", "Interstate Love Song", "PLUSH", "Kryptonite" and "It's Been A While" on this CD.
Oh well, there can always be a volume 2!

GOD BLESS YOU ALL and GOD BLESS CREED!
