Free Music Notes for Chronicle, Vol. 1: The 20 Greatest HitsFree Music Review: An anthological band Hit: 5 Stars
Credence Clearwater revival is now part of a living legend.
His innovative pieces were loaded with deep conviction , and above all commitment .
They created a sound based in the beat , and not in the virtuosity aspect . If they made Proud Mary as the most known theme , they translated to Lodi , a summer song or the rock and roll themes like Fortunate son or Travelling band , or well they turned to incredible pieces such as Born on the Payou or the ballad Have you ever seen the rain? They knew how to engage every different market target , and that was the secret of their sucess .
In this age one wonders in silent voice how they are missed and why are not there bands actually with such creativity and beating sound ? .
An unforgettable style that will never let you dissapointed. Buy this one.
A must in your private collection.
Free Music Review: This is for anyone who THINKS they know real rock Hit: 5 Stars
I like modern rock as much as or more than the next guy. Metallica, Disturbed, Jet, Smashing Pumpkins... all really, really cool bands. But CCR is the reason there ARE bands like that: raw sound, a unique voice (that STILL belts a great record or two nowadays) and great musicianship. All that while creating songs that are more persistent than the cave paintings at Lascuax or the Pyramids. This CD has all the major hits from CCR, including their flawless version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" (the fact that John Fogerty sings it "I Hoid It Through The Grapevine" somehow makes it even more appealing, all 11-plus minutes of it). The best thing is that it still sounds fresh. If you're a fan, buy the remasters of the albums. But if you're starting out on CCR (like me), run , do not walk, to buy this album. You can thank me later.
Free Music Review: Excellent yet simple Hit: 5 Stars
Despite being a hardcore metalhead who likes the most bonecrushingly extreme and brutal metal there is (I mean BRUTAL, Slayer, SYL, Cryptopsy and others) and also being heavily into the more "experimental" side of industrial I usually prefer extreme music. Yet there is no denying that classic rock started it all. Of course you can pay homage to the obvious ones like Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd who all changed rock with their experimetal yet amazing sounds. Yet good ol' CCR is mostly forgotten by teenagers today. Hell i should know, i am one. They aren't experimental like Pink Floyd and you won't mistake the guitars here for anything by Hendrix but what you WILL find here is pure and honest rock and roll. Hell along with AC/DC i'd have to rank these guys as being original for just being so damn honest when it comes to rock.
Free Music Review: Classic Hit: 5 Stars
CCR is not just for 40 year old men who used to listen to them back in the sixties. I am a 16 year old girl and I happen to love CCR! This is one of the best albums I own. It even has the privilege of being my "driving music". Although there are some songs I like less than others (I prefer the songs that they wrote themselves) every song on here is a good song. And the lyrics...its so refreshing to hear a group that doesn't only sing about loving someone...then breaking up with them...then loving someone else...etc. CCR sings aobut life...and alot of people can relate to that. While most of the music is fast rock and roll, I also really appreciate their slower songs, esp. Someday Never Comes. Anyone who is a fan of good rock and roll should do themselves a favor and get this album. No true rock and roll fan should be without it.
Free Music Review: Straight-up, gritty swamp rock Hit: 5 Stars
I've tried to find other bands from the 60s-70s which have the same grittiness and raw beats as Creedence. Some came close, but nothing seemed to deliver the same level of punch CCR does. It's thumping, growling, stripped-down rock n' roll that isn't swallowed up in a wall of distortion or overproduction that a lot of bands today are preoccupied with. If you're itching for something raw and without gloss that isn't acoustic or listless indie (snoooze!), CCR serves it up straight and hard. I'd even say they're the AC/DC of swamp/roots rock.
These tracks are from both volumes, but they're my favorite picks for songs with beats that don't mess around and a rockin' melody:
Born on The Bayou, Tombstone Shadow, I Heard it Through the Grapevine, Run Through the Jungle, I Put A Spell on You, Good Golly Miss Molly
