Not sure what the previous reviewer means about the "new", this is simply the MP3 version of the live third album by Crosby, Stills & Nash (which was their second as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and the first live album). It was originally released in 1971, and it peaked at #1 on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart. The live recordings were from shows at The Fillmore East, New York, June 2-June 7, 1970 The Chicago Auditorium, Chicago, July 5, 1970 and The Forum, Los Angeles, June 26-June 28, 1970. A must for any CSN/CSN&Y fan - but it was not their best effort. A few songs come across very well - and others were just not on the mark. For me, Southern Man was the standout, with a real jam session feel to it.
4 Way Street Poster
This is one of those albums where you'll want to cherry-pick favorites. Recorded live when the supergroup was at its commercial zenith, it's sloppy in spots where precision is called for. And the hyperbolic counterculture rants sound a bit silly these days (Bellows Stills: "Jesus Christ was the first nonviolent revolutionary! Ah, dig it, dig it!"). On the other hand, the electric jams are enlivened by some charged guitar skirmishes between Stills and Young. Those who owned the original 2-record set will be pleased by the additional Graham Nash song ("King Midas in Reverse") and Young's acoustic "The Loner"/"Cinnamon Girl"/"Down by the River" medley. --Steven StolderClassic Rock Music CDs
