Democracy is a messy thing sometimes and free speech is a vital component.Free speech is exactly like this......Frustrating, inspiring, motivating,
saddening, raw and emotional......eliciting extreme responses.
This tour was driven by Neil and all that makes him a complex and sometimes maddening genius. Never one to compromise, Neil gives it to us straight from the heart and soul....whether we love it, like it or hate it.
It's great to live in a country where we are free to disagree...free to buy this CD or not.
My reactions are all over the map on this one....but I respect CSNY's attempt to put it all out there.....especially without overdubs or sweetening of vocals. Buy this at the risk of having it make you think and feel......and really, how much new music these days really makes you think, feel, and decide for yourself ?

Remember "Four Way Street?"
It was recorded June 2-June 7, 1970 at the Fillmore East.
Fast forward 38 years.
Neil's "Living With War" was a moment, an act of passion, and in the overall career sense of Neil Young as a member of Buffalo Springfield through the present, maybe not his best work as a songwriter-performer.
But if you'll take a look at that well-worn copy of "Four Way Street," you'll notice "Ohio"...and you'll realize that, for the most part, politics have been at the center of CSNY from the beginning.
They rock, and they hit a few sour notes, but all in all, as a 2008 document from a legendary band that deserves that status, Deja Vu Live is a solid 4-star effort. Search for the "Military Madness" videos on YouTube, and you'll want to own this CD.

This is flat out one great album. It beats the hell sonically over the dozen or so audiance recording being passed around. Only problem was that this was a marathon concert and so much was left out. So many great songs that they performed it's a shame to see this album so Neil Young/Living With War heavy. I loved LWW very much and played the bejesus out of it, cranking it on my car stereo in the very conservative town I live in. But it would have been really nice to have the other songs from the tour better represented. Guess I'l make my own conpanion disk from the audiance recordings to compliment this album. As it is, though, this is a great souvener from a great tour. If it was a bit more complete it would get 5 stars from me.Free Music Review: What's here is good

While it's good to have some of CSNY's live show documented, it's seems like a little more could be made available. Yeah, Neil has assured that this "soundtrack" complements his documentary and it does. But, what about the rest of the songs peformed at the shows? CSNY was doing 2 1/2 or 3 hour show and trotting out a really excellent set. Hopefully, the team (Neil) will take the fans into consideration and make more available when the DVD is released. (What about a bonus DVD of one of the concerts to complement the documentary? That would be nice).

Anything by CSNY is good.
They are one of the very few groups who have kept both their musical and political integrity.
Their poetry, constantly evolving spirit, and political sensibility combine with one of the best classic rock foursomes that ever picked up instruments.
When they wail I feel it in my bones, and when they croon, my soul softens. Their intellect and musicality has just grown through the years. If they do it, I'll buy it. What else is there to say.
