Free Music Review: A Fitting Farewell

It's a shame that most people only know Crowded House as an eighties one-hit wonder. Neil Finn and company wrote some of the most finely crafted pop of the last 20 years. I remember being devastated when the band announced its split in 1996. This is a truly awesome collection for any fan of the band or any person who just enjoys well written and energetic songs played live. I was fortunate to see the band in December 1991 in Houston. Wow! What a great show that kept the intensity for over two and-a-half hours. The setlist is a great mix of the radio staples and some great gems from the band's incredible catalogue. This CD has not only brilliant sound quality, but the performances are incredible. Neil's singing is as good as ever, and you definitely feel that you're there with rock and roll's greatest audience listening to what are collectively some of the best songs ever written. The beauty of a live Crowded House show is not only in the world's most beautiful instrument, Neil Finn's voice, but it's just as much in the audience participation in singing along to very cool tunes.
This is an amazing CD that will probably leave most of us wondering, gee, why didn't you make it a four-disc set?

I have been a Crowded House / Finn Brothers fan for a long time, but this live CD is amazing. Neil Finn is such a talented and gracious musician and performer. If you are already a fan, this would be a great addition to your collection. If you are new to them, it is a great represenation of their talent and will make you want more. Saw them first in Amsterdam in 1986 and was lucky enough to be in Sydney for this concert. Amazing. One of the best live bands ever, this is a great album. Very emotional concert, it was an amazing night.
Can't wait for the new work, but it will be different without Paul Hester's snazzy drumming.

Just so everyone knows, they officially are back together (minus Paul Hester obviously).
Neil and Nick recorded a new album and it should be out later this year with a world tour as well!
They better get the respect they deserve over here in the U.S. finally!!!!
