I heard this band for the first time a few years ago when my cousin gave me a cassette of their album 'Woodface'. It's probably worth buying all their albums, 'cause they don't have even a single 'sub-par' album in their collection. However, if you can't afford that, Recurring Dream is a perfect introduction to their music. If possible, try getting your hands on the limited edition double disc, which contains a Live Album. Probably not talked about as much as some other great bands, Crowded House will always remain as the 'underrated' band, who've never actually made a bad song!Free Music Review: THIS 5 Stars
Crowded House just define music. I'm a new listener and unfortunately never even knew of the band when they were together. However, after purchasing this-I have realised how 'beautiful' it is possible for music to be. Every song on the record reaches to a different part of you. No matter how hard any artist of today tries, they will never acheive the standard and pureness of Crowded House. 'Dont Dream Its Over' is probably the best recording of all time and the lyrics are truly haunting in 'Fall at your Feet'. I was always turned off by the cultish following Crowded House leader Neil Finn, in all his incarnations, seems to enjoy--kind of like a musical Saturn. And then I finally broke down and bought this, and on first listen I thought, what's the big deal?And then I listened again, and again, and again. And thought, this Finn guy is GOOD.
I used to think that 'complex' and 'pop music' were mutually exclusive. Not anymore. This is clever, hook-filled music with complexity that only repeated listenings uncovers. Buy it!

Crowded House - beautiful melodies sung with meaning by Nil Fun. I find it easy to relate to many lines sung by Neil, and the clever double-meaning he puts in his lyrics. His voice carries the songs, and delicate understated guitar fills in the gaps as required. For lovers of melody, this best of compilation compiles many of CH's best, yet leaves off gems like Sister Madly. You could have a double CD and still leave some great songs off, this is how good they are. Get it today!
