Free Music Notes for Temple of Low MenFree Music Review: Good, but no 'Together Alone' Hit: 5 Stars
I agree that this album is very good. It has, after all, been the source of two of the greatest songs I've heard, namely 'Into Temptation' and 'Better be home soon'. However, as an immense fan of Crowded House/Neil Finn, please do yourselves a favour and beg,l borrow or steal a copy of their 1993 masterpiece 'Together Alone'. To this day, I cannot listen to it once at a time, its like a drug in that even a sample will leave you craving more. All I can add is that I am on my fifth copy.
Free Music Review: A pop masterpiece from start to finish Hit: 5 Stars
If I were stranded on a desert island, this is the disc I'd want to be stranded with. Everything about it is perfect. Standout tracks are When You Come, Into Temptation, Sister Madly, and Better Be Home Soon. Each is a classic pop song that will be admired for years to come. Elvis Costello recently wrote that he wishes he'd written Into Temptation, and he certainly knows a good pop song when he sees one!Neil Finn is a genius.
Free Music Review: The purest album from an excellent band Hit: 5 Stars
The band's first album, 1986's Crowded House, had the big hits, but Temple of Low Men finds the brooding heart of Neil Finn's unsurpassed songwriting. Mitchell Froom's production hits just the right notes, with antique keyboards and sound effects subtly complementing the band's drums-bass-guitar lineup. They (and Finn separately) went on to make more great music, but never with as much focus and dreamy melancholy.
Free Music Review: The Best Crowded House CD Hit: 5 Stars
This album was labelled "dark" when it first came out, but that label shows a critic(al) lack of imagination. This album is incredible. It's more cohesive than Woodface, more mature than Crowded House (the first album), and has the perfect balance of pop music and angsty lyrics. Sister Madly, Never Be The Same, Into Temptation, Better Be Home Soon, and When You Come are classics!
Free Music Review: Certainly No Mediocre Follow-Up..... Hit: 5 Stars
....which is what our boys from New Zealand wanted to call this one. Simply a sublime record, with Neil Finn at the top of his songwriting form. Neil mined his tortured soul for the inspiration with which to craft songs like I Feel Possessed, Into Temptation, and Better Be Home Soon. There simply isn't a weak or filler track on this album.
