Free Music Notes for Cruel Intentions: Music From The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Free Music Review: I Have To Praise You Like I Should
Hit: 5 Stars

If you want to get the maximum enjoyment out of the soundtrack, I strongly reccomend you viewing the movie. You relate the music to the movie and *BhAm* you've got yourself a one-of-a-kind soundtrack. Believe me, I had always thought Cruel Intentions was a horrible movie full of teenage and rich kid mischief no regular person like you or I can have the luxury to enjoy. And it turned out I was right. But it was also so much more than that. After the first five minutes, you get completely caught up in the movie that all boundary lines are blurred.
And that's exactly how this soundtrack is. After encouragement from frequently watching this movie, I decided to check out the soundtrack.
Another great decision.
Here's a song-by-song review:
1) Placebo- Every You Every Me *Amazing* song. There's such a meaning to it, and it fits hand-in-hand with the movie. In the movie, this song is played when Sebastion, the main character, is driving to see his psychiatrist. If you really listen to the lyrics carefully, you'll see that they describe Sebastion and his entire way of life.
2) Fat Boy Slim- Praise You This is the type of song that you'd expect to listen to on the way to the beach. It's an all-around feel good song. It's perky, and more than that meaningful. If you have a significant other, you can definitely appreciate this song- "We've come a long, long way together- through the hard times and the blue. I have to celebrate you, baby- I have to praise you like I should."This song was another brilliant pick for the soundtrack. In the movie, this song is played when Sebastion and Annette Hargrove (Sebastion's bet) make their first intimate connection.
3) Blur- Coffee and TV This is one of those songs. You can't understand why the heck it's on the CD. No link to the movie whatsoever. Let's not waste anymore space on this horrible song.
4) Bedroom Dancing- Day One This is a decent "love-sux-bad". Basically it's about a guy who shrugs off a girl. Finally, he gives into a night with her. Then she blows him off after she "uses" him. This song basically describes the relationship between Sebastion and Kathryn(Sebastions' step-sister). It was played, however, when Sebastion and Cecille (yet another of the many characters in Cruel Intentions) "do it".
5)Counting Crows- Colorblind What to say? It's such a beautiful song that anyone and everyone can't relate to. It's kind of an "I'm fine without you."song. It's so peaceful. This song was played when Sebastion made his transformation from "cruel" to "good".
6) Kristen Barry- Ordinary Life. This song's alright, I suppose. It's cute and basically about falling in love. This was played when Sebastion invited Annette for a swim. Life many of the songs, it can be greatly tied in with the movie.
7) Marcy Playground- Comin' Up From Behind AHHHH!! Such a great song! You've got to have at least one of these...songs on a soundtrack! It's not civilized, it's totally inept, and it's just a "funky" song. Basically about "scorin' chicks."It's not very original, but I think it was well-placed in the soundtrack. Right in the middle. A nice break from all the mopey love songs (though they're still good). AN ALL-AROUND FEEL GOOD SONG! This song was played when Sebastion was out to "get" Greg (ANOTHER CHARACTER!).
8) Skunk Anasie- Secretly Ummmm.... it's sooo meaningless, but like many of the songs, it describes player Sebastion. But, Skunk Anansie (What a weird voice- don't you think) has a really lovely voice.
9) Craig Armstrong- This Love Back to the slow, romantic ballads. This is such a graceful song. It's about a love being unique, strange, and beautiful. It's a relaxing song (especially when something horrible's just happened to you). This was played when Sebastion and Annette were realizing just how special the other person was.
10)Aimee Mann- You Could Make A Killing It's a nice song, but I don't really understand it that well. I guess the title basically sums it up. This song was played more towards to end of the movie- you know, the "reflection" part.
11)Faithless- Addictive THIS is a wild ride. I swear! It's soo hard to comprehend. Like they said in the lyrics- "It makes no sense". But I THINK it's basically about love tormenting you but still stickin' with it. This was played when Kathryn was in the clothing store to talk to Cecille's mother (YES! I know what you're thinking........ ANOTHER CHARACTER!) about Cecille's crush on (READY FOR ANOTHER CHARACTER?! ;-) ) her music teacher, Ronald.
12) Abra Moore- Trip on Love This song is supposed to be miserable, but it's toooooo perky. Abra Moore has a nice voice, but she should use it doing something else, such as asking "Would you like fries with that?" or "Please pull up to the front". This was played when Cecille was sneaking over to Sebastion's house to write a love letter to Ronald.
13) Bare Jr.- You Blew Me Off This song is cute, a nice second-to-last song. It makes the listener wipe the tears off and start laughing. This is hilarious. It's about rejection turning him on. This basically describes Sebastion. (DUH). In summarization- GrEaT SoNg.
14) The Verve- Bittersweet Symphony WOW! What a great conclusion to a never-failing-to-delight soundtrack. It's life in a song. You can't get much better than this. Well, it's not really life in a song- it's the consequences of a do-evil-live. This was at the end when everybody finds out who Kathryn is.

OKAY~ I really reccomend you buying this CD. It's just so great. Sorry if I didn't really tell you about the movie, but I want you to find out for yourself when you watch it. CIAO!
