Free Music Notes for Curtains (2007 Original Broadway Cast)Free Music Review: It's No "Chicago" or "Cabaret", but Still a Fun Score! Hit: 4 Stars
From Kander & Ebb, who gave us the brilliant "Chicago" & "Cabaret", comes the last score they worked on together - "Curtains".
The murder mystery, show-within-a-show is great fun and has an outstanding cast, including: David Hyde Pierce, Debra Monk, Karen Ziemba, Jill Paice, and Jason Danieley. The show's score may be somewhat inconsistent, but contains several great numbers:

Free Music Review: Hooray for the Broadway musical! Hit: 4 Stars
As a former musical fanatic, I have long been fairly snobbish about new musicals. (The last few I really liked were A Chorus Line and Sweeney Todd, so you know I am not kidding!) This is a lovely piece of fluff that makes me want to sing and dance. After finally wresting it away from my son, I have been playing it every day on my half hour commute so I can learn all the words to the songs. What a pleasure!
Free Music Review: Curtains is hilarious Hit: 4 Stars
David Hyde Pearce is excellent as the detective -- finally breaking away from his Niles Crane persona. He's not a great singer, but he sure can put over his songs. I was particularly impressed with Debra Monk who is delightfully catty and crude and she sings beautifully. The score is not Kander & Ebb's best, but the lyrics are clever and sometimes had be LMAOROTF.
Free Music Review: Cutain's Up! Hit: 4 Stars
I bought this CD as homework for an audition as I never heard the music before. What a pleasant surprise this was! There are some great songs... a few that are hilarious! And the story line was really fun!
I don't know how this musical has stayed off my radar until now! Thank goodness for homework! I'd recommend this to anyone who loves Broadway!
Free Music Review: Pure Entertainment Hit: 4 Stars
Very entertaining. A fitting finale to the partnership of Kander & Ebb.
The story is immaterial to the music. A strong cast carries off what could be considered a nonsense piece. Plaudits all round to the cast, writers and producers.
