Free Music Notes for In Search of Sunrise 7Free Music Review: i've heard better from Tiesto, but this is still a good cd Hit: 4 Stars
me as a DJ, i don't usually buy full cd's from DJ's, i mostly just get what's hot single wise on vinyl most times that is when dealing w/ dance music... due to the location of where i am at right now, the stores here don't sell any dance music. the closest to dance are NOW comps. NOW to me ain't dance, it's old top 40. so when i see a dance cd like Tiesto or Oakie up in there, i get it...
well, i must give the cd about a 3 3/4 to 4 star rating. i got the 2 cd set one... i def ripped alot of the tracks from my cd to my pc.. so i liked alot of what i heard, but i've heard better from Tiesto on past albums and mixes.. disc 1 is trance and what sounds like some house influence and tekno influence on it too. i like disc 1 better then 2, but 2 is good too. i liked the tracks w/ the vocals too more then the instrumentals. i agree w/ reviewer Snyder... it has a good balance of instrumental and vocal tracks on here.. personally i could of done w/ 2 extra vocal tracks, maybe 3, but that's just me. i'm not a huge vocal trance listener either, but Tiesto knows how to make that stuff work... as does ATB, Olive, and some others, etc...
so it's a good balance there. when i first started dj-ing, my passion was for this type of trance, and melodic/prog. trance... that was before i got into hard trance.. i like all kinds of electronica, from chill and trip hop to hard trance to a lil gabber, etc.. so i like all kinds of music/dance music.. it's a good cd, good mix... i liked what i heard... and alot of what's on disc 2 sounds more like symphonys to me.. i believe i heard a mandolin on one of the tracks.. it's a beautiful track too..
i can't say many bad things about cd, i did like it. reason why i say the low rating, is cuase i've heard better from tiesto on past albums. also becuase, the trance on this cd, is light.. compared to past stuff of his, it's light trance. i can't even say categorize it as melodic or prog. trance. to me, it's just light trance/trance... i think we can expect to see some of the tracks on here on some trance comps, like "This is Trance", and "Ultra Trance" mix cd's, etc... i'm sure some of these tracks will pop up on comps..
i wish Tiesto could have put on more tracks he actually created. his track is one that stands out on here...
all in all, not a bad cd... if you like the lighter side of trance.. a good buy, but nothing to rush to the record/music shop for..
Free Music Review: One BEAUTIFUL sunrise! Hit: 4 Stars
It's been a very long time since I wrote a review on a Tiesto album, but I was so refreshed by this outing that I thought it best to chime in. Basically, I will be echoing the sentiments of other reviewers, so bear with the redundancy.
If this were an Armin Van Buuren album, you would be labeling CD1 "On the Beach" and CD2 "In the Club," for Tiesto follows that same route in ISOS, Vol. 7. CD1 is definitely a beautiful CD to chill out on...the first 5 tracks are classic chill, followed by 8 vocal/melodic tracks, and then ending with another short down-tempo track. I liked the gradual build up and I was really impressed with most of the vocal numbers (my absolute favorite being Airbase's "Denial"), but was a bit let down by the male vocals in track 13.
CD2 was definitely the better of the two, especially if you're a fan of high energy/melodic trance with a splash of progressive thrown in for good measure. I was going to list some standouts, but there are too many to mention. Let me just say that once track 5 kicks in you're in for quite a ride!
There are simply no fillers (on either CD) and this in itself is enough to commend this to any Tiesto fan (or to one who has never heard him, for that matter).
I must confess that I just listened to 3 other double CDs in the last few days..."Nightmusic: Volume 3," "Anjunabeats: Volume Six," and "A State of Trance: 2008," so I'm a bit spoiled. If I had to rate these four I'd give an upper hand to Armin's "A State of Trance" (it's his best in years!!), followed by a tie between "Nightmusic: Volume 3, and the "ISOS: Vol. 7." Anjunabeats was good, but it wasn't on the same level as their previous volumes and unlike the other 3 I found myself hitting the "skip" button too often on CD1. I would highly recommend them all though; in fact, these four artists can be counted on every year to gratify your senses by taking you to "audio Nirvana."
Free Music Review: Soo close to being a 5 star! Hit: 4 Stars
Ok, so up front I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of Tiesto's normally. But I don't want to make this a review about the DJ, but about the album. That being said, I have to say that this is his best work that I have heard at least. I currently own Adagio For Strings, In My Memory, ISOS 6 & ISOS 7 from Tiesto, and again this is the best of those in my opinion.
The mixing on the album is very well done, and everything feels very cohesive and solid. There is never really a point where you can really tell where one track starts and the other ends which is a huge plus for the album. The album also has some huge stand outs the biggest of which I believe is "Driving To Heaven (Mat Zo Remix)" (and what from Mat Zo could ever be bad!) closely followed both in quality and on the track list by "Just A Thought". "6AM" is another great track and really gives the first disc the lift it needs.
With all that, there are also a couple flaws with the album that keep it from being a true 5-star album. The track list is generally not great, it's good but just not excellent like a 5 star album. The first disc seems to have gotten the worst of the blow, it all feels very downtempo and...not generic, but just every other track seems to have the same feel.
With all that said this album comes sooo close to being a 5-star but with the track selection I just couldn't do it! If he would have traded out one song for something like "Shipwrecked" or "Timeless", I could have probably done it. I would definitely not recommend the album to anyone unfamiliar with the genre. This is some deeper territory than most newcomers like, and I know I wouldn't have liked it originally. Though this is just my opinion, many have absolutely adored the album, so it could just be me ;)
Enjoy!
Free Music Review: God I hate tiesto at times, but this is good. Hit: 4 Stars
Well, what to say here?
Tiesto is somewhat of a jerk with his whole i'm better than thou attitude when meeting people after his sets, but he does churn out some of the best trance albums out there...
You can't deny it - this double disc set is seamlessly blended with the finest intro/trance/outro setup to date. Yeah its 2009 and things have changed already, but this is a timeless setup - like most of the ASOT's in circulation...
I'm usually a leaner towards the house side of everything, but I really can't get my ears off this compilation due to it's great layered sounds and uplifing schiesse. You know the drill - I don't need to describe the music itself in order for you to know what's up.
Dance.

Free Music Review: A CD that 5-7 yrs from now you can still actually enjoy!!! Hit: 4 Stars
I am one of those tiesto trance follower and have been since 2000. To this day I still go back and pop in some magik cd's or the early ISOS's. Some to this day get the job done as I work out and if he were to barely release some of those titles they would still be hits right now. This man was born with a special ear for trance producing rythms. I swear when my wife gets pregnant I will be relaxing my kid with these special tunes on ISOS ASIA by placing a stereo next to her belly. LOL Hell be raving in there. But yes these hits on this cd especially CD 2 you can still listen to it yrs from now and still be in love with his stuff. Im still in love with ISOS 4 & 5 Latin America and LAX. Those are by far my fav ISOS cd's. But this one is good too.
