Free Music Notes for It's Dark and Hell Is HotFree Music Review: Classic Hit: 5 StarsThis is obiviously DMX's best work, before I had only heard a few songs off this cd, like "Ruff Ryder Anthem", "Stop Being Greedy", and "Damien". So I decided to buy it, and there were a lot more songs on there that I liked, besides the ones that I already knew. Before this, the only DMX cds I had were, "Then There Was X.." and "The Great Depression", those are solid too. But not as good as "It's Dark and Hell Is Hot", he comes with some strong dark lyrics, and the production at the hands of Swiss Beats, is bangin to. If you don't have this cd yet, go out and get it, you won't be dissapointed.
Free Music Review: INCREDIBLE CD!! Hit: 5 StarsI bought this cd about three days ago, wondering what it was going to be like. I listened to the first two songs and I was blown away. They were incredible, with Ruff Ryder's Anthem being one of my favorite songs of all time. The cd pretty much continues the same way for the rest of the album. Banger after Banger after Banger after Banger. Every song is incredible. I love all of them. GREAT ALBUM! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! BUY IT!

Free Music Review: Great debut from DMX Hit: 4 StarsDMX's debut album came out in 1998 when Hip Hop was at an all time low, after the murders of Pac & Big, Hip Hop was being dominated by R&B rappers like Puff Daddy and his awful shiny suit brigade. It's Dark and Hell is Hot's importance can't be understated, it was dark (as the title suggests), and X was spitting real street rhymes, everything that mainstream Hip Hop wasn't at the time. DMX's delivery was rough and raw, as he practically barks his lyrics, he was like an antidote to all the wack mc's polluting Hip Hop at the time. This is actually the only DMX album I own, but most others agree this is easily his best album.
After the Intro is the classic Ruff Ryders Anthem, this was the first DMX song I ever heard and remains one of my favourite tracks to today. Possibly the best song on here is Damien, this track has X conversating with the Devil, and as the track goes on he sinks further into his clutches, this song continues on future DMX albums. Other favourite tracks include Stop Being Greedy, The Convo, Look Thru My Eyes and Get at Me Dog. The majority of the tracks on the album are at least good, and I often listen to it all the way through.
A lot of people call It's Dark.... a classic, and I can see why they say that, however I wouldn't quite call it a classic myself. X lyrics are good, not great, and some of the production on the album is indifferent, but aside from these minor issues this is still an excellent album and highly recommended.
Free Music Review: My honest opinion Hit: 5 StarsI bought this albumn the day it came out on store shelves and I STILL listen to it very often since. In my opinion, this is possibly the best OVERALL rap albumn of all time...and yes, I mean over any 2Pac or Notorious B.I.G. albumn, no lie. I have every single 2Pac and Notorious B.I.G. albumn and all of them are classics. I mean don't get me wrong, 2Pac and Biggie are the legends of rap, but they never had a complete full albumn nearly as strong as DMX's debut. When I first heard "It's Dark And Hell Is Hot", I was blown away. Every song on this albumn has something very good about it, seriously. I'm 20 now and I've been listening to rap music since I was 10. And in 10 years of listening to hundreds of popular rap albumns, I don't think there's another OVERALL rap albumn out there, even to this day, that can match this one. Overall meaning every song on the albumn, there isn't any fillers, and when there are fillers on an albumn than that means there are weak spots/songs. There isn't anything close to a filler on this albumn. DMX is intense, hardcore, grimy, and emotional with some of the most powerful lyrics existing and without a doubt one of the best voices the rap industry has to offer. So if you're even the slightest rap fan and you don't have this albumn yet, you honestly don't know what you're missing. I highly recommend it to any rap fan. IF this albumn isn't the best rap albumn of all time, than it's easily one of the top 3 to this day. Go buy it.
