Free Music Notes for DiscoveryFree Music Review: Dance music from a new point of view Hit: 5 Stars
Wow what can i say, Daft Punk has really something new to add with their dance music. They can simply turn everything from slow easy listening tunes to heavy tough tracks into dance music and they are not afraid to record it. There are lots of diffrent kind of dance music on this CD, not 15 identical typical dance tracks like many other artists make, probably the reason why the album was called "Discovery". First off we got the dance pop tune "One More Time" a big hit when it was released with is't cool animated video, here we got vocals from Romanthony and the song got great melody and chorus "Music got me feeling so free we gonna celebrate". You cannot dislike this song. Then we got the tough "Aerodynamic" with agressive beats and fast electro guitar playing. "Digital Love" sound a little like "one more time" but slower, good dance-pop. "Harder, Better,Faster, stronger" reminds me of the good old Kraftwerk with Robot voices and nice funk beats in the backround. "Crescendolls" is a house-funk song so is "face to face", "Short Circuit" reminds me of what Herbie Hancock did back in the 80's, good dance-funk so to say. But there are also a few very slow songs "Veridis Quo" and "Something About Us", and the last one "too long" is a soul song more or less. This album works for everyone's taste, Daft Punk mix alot of diffrent music genres and turn it into great dance, for dance music lovers this is a MUST buy, for other music fans i recoment it aswell.
Free Music Review: Daft Punk is awesome possum! Hit: 5 Stars
This is one incredible album. I love the way that this album doesn't just include one style of techno and has a wide range of diffrent music. Some of my favorite songs from the album are;
One More Time- 9/10 The first single that came out. No complaints. Very catchy single with an incredible beat. does get a titchy bit boring after the 10,000th time you hear it...but the 9,999th other times are all great!
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger- 10/10 Yes!! one of the best songs on the album i love the way they change their voice and the beat rocks everything. This is the song you listen to when you get ready to get back on the field for sports or if you like drama, when you get ready to take the stage, Very powerful.
Something about us-100000/10 My favorite song on the entire album and one of my top 3 songs ever!. This song is slow and the lyrics are short but very very very very very very sweet. The lyrics are so dern simple yet very beautiful. Even if you take out all the other great songs in this album, except this one I would still buy it. It really is a great song, and I reccomend it to everyones.
Discovery Album (the album itself)-10/10 this album is great because it doesn't have just 2 or 3 songs that are the only "singles".. this whole album just flows when you listen to the album at once. If you love the album go and check out the Story of the Secret Star System DVD, which is the whole entire album played with a japanese cartoon which is equally beautiful.!
Free Music Review: Harder Better Faster Stronger makes the whole CD worth it Hit: 5 Stars
Everybody else here has written up a little blurb on all the tracks on the CD. I don't own the CD. I don't even own the single. I've only heard one song on the album. But I bought a nintendo 64 for Goldeneye: 007. I bought the Eagles - Hell Freezes Over for Desperado(and hotel california). I bought the Wild Things DVD for the sex scene. I bought a PS2 for tekken tag tournament. My friend sent me track 4 off of Daft Punk's new CD: Harder Better Faster Stronger. I listened to it, I listened to it again, listened to it for a third time to make sure it was as good as I thought it was, then ordered the CD. He says that all the songs are good, and I hope they are, but if they aren't, that's okay. That song blew me away. You know where you hear a song and you say to yourself, "This is a hit". It's one thing when you hear it on MTV, but it's another thing when you find it the day the CD is released. I knew I liked Daft Punk, I played Homework 'till the CD player scratched the table of contents on the CD (I swear, it was the CD player!), but I didn't know HOW MUCH I liked these guys until I heard this song. The "vocorder" they use in "Harder Better Faster Stronger" was always a favorite of mine (started when I heard "do you feel like we do" on an oldies radio station, wavered a little with "believe", and is now back in full force), and these guys blow me away with what they did. Listen to the song, understand what I mean. It is art.
Free Music Review: Just what I had hoped for! Hit: 5 Stars
After seeing the videos of One More Time, Aerodynamic, and Digital Love in Europe on vacation I had immediately fallen in love.One More Time is the classic party song. The guitar solo is amazing in Aerodynamic. Digital Love's lyrics are good to listen to, they get your imagination going (picture yourself dreaming about dancing with your crush... see?!). Harder Better Faster Stronger is my favorite song on the CD, the lyrics are set up perfectly, and the beat steps in at the perfect time, notice how when the vocoder is setup to the guitar, the sound it generates! Crescendolls is considered a favorite by many, a bit repetitive, but yes I agree the beat is one of the best. I love Superhero's BG sounds, as well as the "Love in the air...". High Life revives disco, and it brings it back to near perfection. Something About Us has a nice slow beat, sets the mood, and the lyrics say "I love you" in the beautiful manner. I love Voyager's bass guitar, it steps the CD back up into a faster beat. The insturments in Verdis Quo remind me of something out of the middle ages, but it's a perfect fit for the song. I can understand why people hate Short Circuit, but it grew on me, so I enjoy it. Face to Face has some great lyrics and the instruments are set in at just the right time between the chorus. Too Long may look too long, but it goes by like nothing when you listen to it, Romanthony does a great job with the lyrics and the beat fits in well.
Free Music Review: The Perfect Dance/Club Album Hit: 5 Stars
Let's see what genres of music we have on this masterpiece of music... Techno: Check. Electronic: Check. Rock: Check. R & B: Check. Classical: Check. Country: ... okay so not EVERY genre is represented, still, the boys from France create one of the best dance/club CDs that I have ever heard.
"Discovery" is the follow up to Daft Punks "Homework" (it's been a while since that one was released too...). "Homework was another genius dance/club CD, but where "Homework" lacks in variety, "Discovery" lacks in consistancy. Every song sounds unlike the others. "One More Time" is the popular radio track that has an R & B sound to it, good song to get the dance floor moving. "Digital Love" is kind of a retro sounding 80's love song, in the same vein as many other love songs from that era. It's an enjoyable piece. "Harder Better Faster Stronger" is a rock/electronic/techo piece to get those ravers out there to get up and bust a move. I also enjoyed "Face to Face", "Superheros", and "Voyager".
The only songs I would skip over, or listen to in short doses, are "Short Circuit" (reminds me of a robot going haywire, maybe in vein of the movie with the same name?) and "Too Long", which gets to be repetitive, and, ironically, too long. Both songs got to be annoying. Other than those two, this CD is awesome, and you need to pick it up if you are going to have a party. Throw it in the rotation and watch the dance floor get crowded.
