Free Music Notes for HomeworkFree Music Review: house beats, grooves, and tunes! Hit: 5 Stars
to start off, buy this cd. you may have heard ppl talk about the discovery albume; daft punk running around in robot costumes, but thats another story. this is simply faster than discovery. the songs on "homework" are longer, more repetetive, and faster; though it is all house. you may think it sounds like disco, well your right. this albume is disco-house/techno, so if you live in a place where there are not that much techno, you will stand out (like me). the best songs on this cd are: "revelution 909", "da funk", "around the world", "high fidelity", and "burnin'" "around the world" is an intense song; it says around the world for 7:00 so there is your warning. "burnin'" uses the same record scratch for 6:00. "revelution 909" uses the same bass bat for 5:00, and "da funk" uses the same scratch rhythem for 5:00.another good song is "indo silver club" its really good, like the rest. so with all that said, make your own decision. my option would be buy it, if you, put it on the net for auctions :-)
Free Music Review: the sound of tomorrow, the music of today Hit: 5 Stars
daft punk, simply put, is sublime. the album homework is one of the greatest achievements of the contemporary music/art world. after beginning with a fun intro to let the uninitiated ease into this bizarrely wonderful album, a psuedo-radio announcer tells the listener some of the best news he/she could ever hear: "[we will be]...bringing you exclusively- daft punks homework." what follows is over an hour of the most enjoyable, realized, original soundscapes ever invented. forget about people calling daft punk updated disco or typical french dance-pop. daft punk are a category unto themselves. it is rare that you will find musicians with this much courage and imagination to create something so outstandingly original. regardless of what music you listen to, this album won't fit in, and that's the wonderful part. it stands out like a triple-jointed thumb. i purchased this album a few years ago and still appreciate it more upon every listening. put an end to the boredom that is a symptom of most music today, and get a hold of daft punk's homework.
Free Music Review: Impressive Work!! Hit: 5 Stars
Five Stars because there isn't a song of this CD that I don't like. I bought this CD only knowing the songs "Around The World" (a brilliant and sticky electro song that makes you wanna dance, and has a cool video directed by the genious Michel Gondry) and "Da Funk" (once again, strong beats, a danceable tune). I bought it being a little bit afraid of finding in it songs like in their other album, "Discovery", which has a focus on the melodys rather on the beats and rythm. I played "Homework" on my CD player and I was amazed! It had really deep sounds, and if I played it really loud, it would sound like I was in my own private disco... I loved it, and still do. It's a wonderful record, and I don't regret having bought it. It's not monotonous at all: it has nice evolutions, and you hear very little of vocals, unlike in "Discovery". "Homework" is old school and rocks a whole lot!! =D Every track is excellent. 16 songs to blast and dance!
Free Music Review: BASS THUMPS AND THE CROWD GOES WILD Hit: 5 Stars
THis ones for all the 21st century electro-pimps who like fat beats, dirty bass lines, first generation drum sequenceres and house music that isn't made for E'd up 14-yr olds who sport bad haircuts, parachute pants and neon jewlery or 30-something urban professionals who think that "house music is kinda like disco, which is cool cause i just missed out on that generation, and grew up in the 80's where I developed my incredibly poor taste in music" Homework is the sound track to a night of overpriced alcohol, riots in line, crusty clubs that were once abbatoires or opium dens, pointless mayhem and experimental sex. Don't be fooled, this ones for the refined music lover, who likes their bass lines low and raunchy, beats in analog form, and the hypnotic ambiance created by sampled street scenes and robo-reverberated electro men.
Free Music Review: D.A.F.T. Hit: 5 Stars
I had never been a fan of dance music until I heard Daft Punk some four years ago. Changed my life, from a dour indie rocker to a cheerful (I think?) house junkie. I remember hearing Da Funk on KROQ in LA and having my head absolutely explode on Ventura Boulevard. While the album is in truth a bit uneven (the first half is a bit more enjoyable than the second, imho), at their best Daft Punk has no peer. Basement Jaxx, Cassius, Armand... They're all quite good, but none quite equals the sheer ingenuity of Thomas and Guy-Man. I cannot recommend this album enough. It remains the finest dance album in my collection, if not the finest album period. The only thing that would've made it better is if they included the song "Musique", their... vocoder, filtery-house track on the Wipeout XL soundtrack.
