Free Music Notes for Human After AllFree Music Review: not a 5 stars album but not a 4 also Hit: 5 Stars
When I went to buy this album, I was very excited...4 years is very long.I bought this album, I listen to it 1 time and I was very very disappointed.I was like:"What's that??? What the hell......" But the day after, I had the Human After All and Robot Rock riff in my head all day long. Maybe I was hoping of an album like Discovery which was awesome and also Homework. But this album is like a mix of these 2 albums. This album is excellent but they can do better...Their songs are long and it's pratically always the same riff all over the song.1-Human After All 9/10 Very good opening song, catchy riff and simple 2-The Prime Time Of Your Life 8/10, The beginning is very good but they can do better on that one... 3-Robot Rock 10/10 Very awesome song, good single... 4-Steam Machine 6/10 Not a big hit, long for nothing... 5-Make Love 7/10 5 minutes and it's the same thing all over the song, there's only a fade-in and fade-out effect and that's all 6-The Brainwasher 7/10 At the beginning I was thinking of a Black Sabbath cover (Iron Man)...like a rave song, if I was the producer, I would have do a shorter song with this one... 7-On/Off Interlude 8-Television Rules The Nation 8,5/10 Very cool song but it's the same riff again all the time ,but...anyways 9-Technologic 10/10 Best song with a lot of lyrics, if someone learn that one, I'll give you a big hug ahhaahha 10-Emotion 7/10 Like Make Love, it's long and there's not a big difference all over the song... So if you're a Daft Punk fan, it's a great cd but if you don't know Daft Punk don't begin with this cd, go with Homework or Discovery... I give 4,5 stars on 5 for the beautifl album which you most listen a couple of time before really loving it
Free Music Review: Believe it or not . . . Hit: 5 Stars
This is actually my favorite Daft Punk album to date. I have always been a fan of the type of electronic music that this album provides, and while I still love Discovery for its unique sound, I have to say I favor this one a little bit more. Yes, call me crazy, call me stupid, but the pure, emotionless, robotic sound ever so similar to their earlier work appeals to me. Not to dis the great song variety of Discovery (I will always love that album) it's just that I can get that sound from, say, The Prodigy. The songs are great, almost every one. "Human After All," "Robot Rock," "The Brainwasher," and "Television Rules the Nation" are my favorites. "Make Love," despite being the same exact figgin' thing for 4 minutes, had a very '50s feel to it. Despite the fact I am a young listener, I have a lot of appreciation for classic sound (50s, 60s, etc.) unlike many of my peers. "Emotion" is the biggest dissapointment. It's too slow and trudegs along for six minutes. Now to address the negatives. The biggest letdown of the entire album is the length. 10 tracks (one being an interlude) at just over 45 minutes in less than two months? I seriously hope they buckle down next time and put out a good 14 or more tracks on the album. Also, I hear a lot of complaints of repetiveness. News flash: It's Electronic music. Repetiveness is standard. Besides, each song constantly builds on itself. If a certain part is repeated, it's only 8-16 measures untill something else is introduced.
Bottom line: If you loved Discovery, this might not be your thing. For the rest of us it's a fantastic album that I've listend to over and over again. Good job, Daft Punk. Keep up the good work.
Free Music Review: If anything, read this one... Hit: 5 Stars
ok. first, hello.
this cd isn't perfect. but none of them are...
if you're looking for another DISCOVERY, this cd may not apply to you.
DAFT PUNK (DP) is house music. it's strong, hard, cold, solid beats. it makes people feel like dancing, in slow, mechanical movements.
most people know DP from DISCOVERY. these people shoud take a look at HOMEWORK. if there was ever a surprise, it was with DISCOVERY. DISCOVERY was a good cd, but it was a complete change from DP older style. DISCOVERY was pop. but it worked.
and so does this cd. DP is constantly changing, evolving. i sound crazy, but you can hear it in their style, from cd to cd.
anyway, this cd incorporates HOMEWORK with DISCOVERY. it's hard house beats with electronic voices. don't listen when people say it gets repetitive. DP may sound repetitive to an untrained ear. but if you listen carefully, you hear progression. start with a basic sound, then slowly add more sounds and slowly build up to your focal point/climax.
don't forget people...DP is from france. the house scene is huge there. DP can still shine in a midst of gems. this cd is worth your money, depending on what you want. like i said before, if you want another DISCOVERY, you probably won't like this. if you liked HOMEWORK, you might appreciate this more. if you like the newer DP-affiliated music (CRYDAMOURE), you'll like this cd.
i won't go thru a breakthru of songs. it's all solid. and some songs are better than others.
i rated this cd a 5 stars. becuz DP went back to their roots, underground dark house beats, just like HOMEWORK.
Free Music Review: Five Stars If You've Seen the ALIVE Tour! Maybe Less if you haven't.... Hit: 5 Stars
This album was difficult for me to get into completely until I saw Daft Punk live on their "ALIVE" tour. They put on a full show, complete with a story and amazing lighting and props that are almost Vegas-like. The Daft Punk duo are dressed as robot aliens performing on stage inside a pyramid-like spaceship poking through a mesh of triangles. They start the show introducing themselves to Earth, by repeating the words "Human" and "Robot" in succession, until "Robot" takes over compelely, and they launch into "Robot Rock". They've set the theme that they are robot aliens from outer space trying to understand "humans". They progress through many of the songs on the album, plus a lot of their older material, much of it "mashed-up" together, and each of the songs has a context in this theme. The song "Technologic" is about how the robot aliens understand our consumer culture. "Steam Machine" about the robot aliens understand our "industrial culture", and of course "Television Rules the Nation" speaks for itself. They end the set with "Human After All", as a summary of the robots understanding the human, and perhaps desiring to be part of it. The encore set Picks up on repeating "human" over and over, and then adding the word "together" to it, to end on an ecumenical (in the secluar sense) note. Before the show, I had the same critiques of the album that people list here, but after you see the show, (with a very flexible mind), you will "get" the album, and love it as one of their classics. Please, people who've seen the "Alive" show, comment on this theme, and tell me if you agree, or if you have a different interpretation.
Free Music Review: The Tao of Dance Music Hit: 5 Stars
Dance music is created for dancing.
If it becomes to progressive it loses it purpose: for you to dance! A classic hip hop technique used by DJs is known as a breakbeat. A breakbeat is when a DJ takes the highest point of a song and loops it over and over. People would dance to it hours on end! Don't believe me? Go ask Grandmaster Flash if you see him. That right there, breakbeats, is the essence of dance music. It doesn't try to impress anybody with clever add-ons and here and theres and what-have-you. It just gives you a nice clean melody for you to jam on. That's all you need. This CD tells you a lot about Daft Punk. First of all, there are not many dance artists out there that are brave enough to do what they do, not many peeps can take so much criticism.
But Daft Punk, what THEY realize is what dance music is truly all about: dancing. The essence, like I said, of dancing is the melody. Apparently, after their experiences as dance artists so far, they finally got enlightened. They were probably sitting in the studio one day thinking of clever ways to make their songs. Then suddenly it hits them. They were enlightened.
They say that when you master an art you return to a state of simplicity. This CD right here is a true example of that. Dance music isn't like other music; it's meant for dancing. Blues is blues, rock is rock, rap is rap, dance... is dance. Read the title: DANCE. Now from the top: WHAT is the purpose of dance music?
