Free Music Notes for Human After AllFree Music Review: Genius Hit: 5 Stars
If u like Daft Punk only because of Discovery & consider Homework bad...im sorry to say that u will dislike or even hate this album more than Homework, why you ask? Because the happy go lucky party music style is gone & you'll just be wasting your time.If u like Daft Punk vice versa (that is, consider Discovery bad & like Homework), u will like this album simply because, although the album as a whole is new in style, it is most definetely reminding us of the days of Homework. If you are a fan of Daft Punk (like me) it depends on what you will think the first time you listen to it,you might hate it or love it right away.Personally, I was disappointed at first, but after 5-6 listens it just grew on me & now i consider it genius. I admit it is the worst the duo have released (NOT considering Daft Club) compared to the previous albums but believe me,as long as you don't compare it to Discovery or Homework, it is an amazing piece of work all in all, just don't judge the album from the first listen, hear it 4-6 times & you'll probably grow to love it just like i did, give it time & let it grow on you. I agree with the idea that people who dunno Daft Punk should not start with this, start with Discovery & then Homework & if u liked those, pick up Human After All at the end.

Free Music Review: Who needs bells and whistles with their drums and guitar? Hit: 5 Stars
I can only believe that Daft Punk would be pleased to see the type of back and forth going on here. I bought Homework in '97 after hearing Around the World once. Bought Discovery the day it came out, the same with Human After All. However, in terms of form, I'd have to say this release is most comparable to their live release, Alive 1997. The raw samples and dirty repetition are similar to the style employed within that 45 minute set. This makes me wonder, with the title "Human After All", are Daft Punk ready to appear in the flesh before human audiences, wielding an impressive new arsenal of edgy sounds to be arranged live? I can only hope.
As an album, this release thrives thematically, and stylistically. Naysayers today will begin to come around in the next year or so. Many areas of dance music, especially house, are taking a turn to the more rocked-out sound.
I hope to hear some rad remixes from this album echoing off the walls of dance clubs in the near future. I think the simplicity of these songs would lend itself nicely to the task of remixing. Guess we'll have to wait and see, although I'm itching to get my groove on to "Technologic".
Free Music Review: Darker, Different, But Definitely Not Inferior Hit: 5 Stars
As anyone as remotely fanatical about Daft Punk as I am can attest, Human After All is definitely a departure from Homework and Discovery. Unlike Discovery, which featured songs with catchy and effervescent beats worthy of rotation on Top 40 radio stations, Human After All features no songs which I would consider potentially popular and trendy (save for the slim chance this album's current single, "Robot Rock," may have). And, unlike Homework, which was dark but at the same time playful, Human After All is as dark as night with no intentions of slipping away from its seriousness.
With that said, I am still grateful for this album. Although different, it shows Daft Punk's versatility and ability to capture all the human emotions music in general tries to do. Heavy on guitar riffs (Take the title song) and haunting melodies (Take Make Love), this is the album I put in the CD player when pheening for a Daft Punk fix while trying to resolve the complications of life.
So, give this album a try. I guarantee simultaneous feelings of astonishment over Daft Punk's musical change and feelings of subtle thrill over Daft Punk's musical genius.
Free Music Review: Alot of people are missing the point! Hit: 5 Stars
I think alot of you who are writing the negative reviews of this album have completely missed the point of Daft Punk in general. If this album dissapointed you, take a step back and REALIZE that you're probably the type of person that's been dissapointed every time an artist you like creates something new. I did agree with the statement from another review "If you're looking for another Discovery, this is not it", but I definitely think this one is VERY similar to Discovery in many ways. As an engineer/producer/musician I can assure you that they used alot of the same groundbreaking tricks and ideas that they used in the creation of Discovery. The main thing this album is lacking in comparison to Discovery, is the lack of a plot. It has no story... just like Homework. It still has the same charming, rigid, experimental sound that we have loved about their previous releases. And most importantly... it's DEFINITELY worth buying. I really don't think that these two guys give a rats butt what any of us write here, they just want their fans to be loyal, like every other musician out there.

Free Music Review: Ratatat fused to Zongamin eating up Daft Punk's Discovery Hit: 5 Stars
It was a joyful night. I started with the regualr Zongamin for night, but then I got an invite from a friend into his car. He told me about this CD he has been listening to and asked me to try and figure out who it was. He and I are big fans of Interstella 5555 and Discovery, who couldn't be? Both of us enjoy Ratatat, Yip-Yip and Zongamin, but what we were listening to was like watching the Big Bang!
As we listened to Daft Punk's newest album, Human After All, we became hypnotized. Everything merged and fused together to make this. Take the energy of Discovery, throw in the guitar synth of Ratatat and the disco beats of Zongamin and you get Human After All.
The first three tracks, are some of my favorite all time songs. They are the prime time of our lives, thats for sure. I've been enjoying this album for a long time, and it will definately make it on my top 10 albums of all time, along with their other two.
You're watching, well listening, to this band emerge into something amazing. This will be one of those albums of the decade, and it should be, just like all Daft Punk stuff.
