Free Music Review: Addictive, Fun Listening

A very, very good debut... Some excellent stuff on here, like "Sweet Little Lass" and "Lovely Jane". Rather hard to describe besides saying that it's sort of a fusion of pop, rock, funk, and occasionally oldies-style stuff by a great band who bring back that funk infusion to the twenty-first century. . I followed DAG when they were together to several live performances and they were fantastic live and I really miss seeing them, that being said, I would like to say that this CD is great. I still listen to it often. There is nothing like it on the radio today. It is fun and funky and written and performed very well. Listen for yourself, you will not be disappointed. The fact that everyone who has written reviews, except for maybe one tone-deaf redneck has given it a 4 or 5 star rating speaks for itself.Free Music Review: Funk Rock without the junk

Seems like nobodies happy with funk anymore unless it's a blatant P-Funk rip off.
Well unfortunately for those people Dag will not cater to the flood of P-funk trend whores and wannabe Funk'o'nauts.
No, No, no, DAG is a bit of the funk, a bit of Rock 'n Roll, a bit of Prince style Pop licks and a bit of that nasty porn you hide from your girl in the back of the closent.
It's not original, but it's good.
There are a couple songs that this record could've done with out, I'm not to hip on the title track "Righteous" or a couple others but the ones that stand out make this CD worth spinnin.
Sweet Little Lass, Lovely Jane, Home, Mama's Eye's and a couple other's
A few silly grooves that make me laugh listenin to em and a few that I skip but I've loved this groove compilation enough to buy it twice having lost it the first time.
It's not the pinnacle of funk for sure, more like the dirty cousin that funk keeps in the closent for bachelor parties and drinking binges.
Thick bass licks, nasty guitar (like junk yard bacon grease nasty), decent keyboards and drums with extra backbone and a couple of ribs. And if you wanna complain about not understanding the lyrics then you shouldn't be listenin to funk there Gomer Pile.
Check it out, it's at least worth a listen.
Free Music Review: Fun and Funky

I like this album alot, as well as Apartment 635. I wish they were still together. Just a fun, funky record. I don't consider it an R&B record, and with how truly AWFUL (so-called) R&B is now, it's a compliment. There are the obvious influences such as KC, Sly, James Brown, Prince, Red Hot Chili Peppers to name a few. I don't consider it a pure funk album, more pop/funk My favorites are "Sweet Little Lass" and "Candy". Bobby's voice, at times raspy, can hit the high notes. The arrangements are tight. A talented band. As for all the comments about them being white, big deal. In addition, I saw them in 1995, and they were amazing live.

DAG -Dem are Grooves- Is the kind of band America should be full of. It doesn't matter that it's a group of white kids in a predominately black genre. They nail it. They kick it off with "Sweet Little Lass", which to me is one of the two weaker songs on the album. It has some good lines but for the most part it carries on at the end. The other song that is a little weak is "As". I understand the Sly and Family Stone feel they were shooting for, but Sly was a little to strange for anybody else to pull off successfully. The tracks that really pulled me in were:"Even So" -- This song is big and FULL of music. It makes you move and they added in crowd noise here and there. It is strange production but good.
"Plow" just an all out funk attack
Then there are the two "baby-makin" tunes, "Candy" and "You Can Lick it". Don't miss those.
Look if you don't buy this album, you're a fool or you don't like funk and I think that puts you back in the fool catagory.
