Free Music Notes for Ravenous: Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFree Music Review: strange but good Hit: 4 StarsThis is a very strange album. The music is a blend of classical, folk, and a touch of bluegrass. It is good but a little eerie. I am glad I own it.
Free Music Review: Heartbreakingly beautiful. Hit: 5 StarsThis IS one of the greatest soundtracks ever recorded. I've initially always liked Nyman scores, but I find they have a short shelf life. i.e. they get old fast. Not this beauty: it is inexhaustably interesting. Nyman should collaborate more often. In a way, the music outclasses the movie, but the movie is still a little gem, provided you like violent entertainment. There's something about the western/horror combination that really works.
Free Music Review: One of the greatest soundtracks ever Hit: 5 StarsThis movie was unfairly overlooked due to its bizarre subject matter and lousy promotion by the studio that made it. However, it's a terrific movie, and the soundtrack is just as good. The music is eerie, fun, exciting, creepy. We get patriotic military music ("Hail Columbia"), frightening and atmospheric horror accompaniment ("saveoursoulissa"), and light, knee-slapping country & western tracks ("run") all rolled into one weird but intriguing mix. My favorite track is "Boyd's Journey," a tune that in only 3 minutes manages to be bizarre, creepy, sad, and sweeping all at the same time. This album is a must.
Free Music Review: Genius! Hit: 5 StarsHas to be said, this soundtrack takes the movie to a whole different level - any other music would make Ravenous just another horror film (although it does have some nice touches), but the soundtrack adds a quirky, eerie genius! And good enough to listen to on its own, which makes a change with film soundtracks.
