I love the music of Dan Fogelberg. His voice is so soothing yet powerful. He defined the easy listening soft rock music in the the late 70s and 80s with his string of hits like "Longer" and "Make Love Stay". However, My favorite track is "Leader Of The Band" from 1981. It is a tribute to his father and this song reminds me of the feelings I have for my dad. I also love "Run For The Roses". This is a lovely song about a horse. Auld Lang Syne is an excelllent track about running into an old girlfriend. I also love the track "Rhythym of The Rain". This is an old Neil Sedaka hit, but Dan makes this song his own with his beautiful vocals. Dan Fogelberg is gone, but his music will live on forever.Free Music Review: Dan's Music Shines On...

It saddens my heart to know Dan is no longer with us in this physical world BUT all of his talent & heartfelt music to me and millions of others will continue to be heard forever more...I connected with every one of Dan's songs, from Home Free to Full Circle, from the very beginning to the very end. Singing to his music after major lung surgery helped me heal, singing with him and feeling him in my soul has helped me through all of the days of my life. I HAVE LONG BEEN PROMISING MYSELF TO PURCHASE AN ALBUM OF DAN`S MUSIC BUT WAS ALWAYS UNSURE WHERE TO START.HAVING READ SOME VERY GOOD REVIEWS ON THE AMAZON WEBSITE ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR " BEST OF" I DECIDED TO BITE THE BULLET AND PURCAHSE IT.
I WAS NOT DISSAPPOINTED.IT CONTAINS SOME OF HIS SONGS WHICH I RECOGNISED STRAIGHT AWAY AND MANY OTHER GEMS.I HAVE BEEN PLAYING IT SINCE I RECEIVED IT AND IT CERTAINLY HAS GIVEN ME A WISH TO LISTEN TO MORE OF DAN`S MUSIC.HE CERTAINLY WAS A TALENTED SINGER/SONGWRITER AND HAS EARNED HIMSELF THE TITLE OF " LEADER OF THE BAND".GIVE IT A LISTEN , YOU WILL NOT BE LET DOWN

Heart Hotel is weak symbolism for someone that was "gutted like a trout" by a "Heartless" lover. He proclaims "..and the walls have grown sturdy and the halls have worn well but theres nobody living inside." Would this be a pro-love song or an anti-love song? I might know that answer. To have a lover rip the very soul from you would make one "retreat to the chambers that I left behind in hopes that there will still be love left to find." I wanted to buy some music from the past. I went looking through my old LP's and found that I had alot of Dan Fogelberg. I bought this CD and listened to it yesterday. Wow, it brought back memories. The 70's were a great time, weren't they? This CD has every hit I ever loved of his. I warn you, have a box of tissues handy. Alot of his songs are sad anyway. But, when you think of his passing, it makes them that much more poignant.
