I do enjoy this recording. You will hear wildlife - very exotic wildlife - most of which I could not identify. Some sounds are definitely spooky and set this recording apart from other thunderstorm recordings. The plethora of animal sounds, water sounds and thunder really combine well to transport you to another environment. It definitely creates a spell. The thunder is nicely moderated - not too startlingly disruptive and not too gentle. I would describe it best as distand rolling thunder. There are birds of course ( not overdone) and some other creatures whose sounds are best described as howling or moaning -this is delightfully eerie. I suppose they are loons or owls, but I'm no expert.
The water sounds are varied. In some spots you will hear heavy rain, other times, the distinct tinkling of raindrops and still at other times it sounds as though someone or thing were splashing in the water. I'd rather not know, as the mystery adds appeal for me.
One thing I would like to mention which I have found on no other recording of this genre -is the wind. You actually can hear wind howling through the trees. I found this marvelous and something overlooked by seemingly everyone else producing these recordings. It adds a terrific dimension to the overall appeal and dare I say magnetism of this CD. I might add that I have never slept as deeply or had as intriguing dreams as I have while this is playing. If you want to experience nature in a "holistic" way during a thunderstorm, you will appreciate this recording. If you wish only to hear thunder, you perhaps should look elsewhere.
