Parents, prepare to have your lives changed! This is GREAT music that you and your kids will enjoy together. DZAF has created something that goes far beyond music that the kids will beg to hear and grown-ups can stand to play AGAIN in the mini-van. This is music that inspires music-making.
Since we "discovered" DZAF, my four year old spends her days singing, dancing, pretending she "is" Dan Zanes, pretending she's playing with Dan Zanes, and learning to play the piano and ukulele (yes, the DZ Flea edition!). She asked Santa for a harmonica. Just that. Is she learning catchy (ANNOYING) jingles about how to tie her shoes? No. Is she learning anything? Yes. Music is math, art, reading, writing, peace, love and happiness! She is learning that making music is bigger than the song; collaboration to create something good gives children a sense of inclusion, unity, curiosity, and goodwill that they carry with them when the song/dance party is over.
On a barely related note, if you have the chance, see DZAF in concert. The only thing better than hearing the music is experiencing the wild, all-ages folk show in person. Our recent concert experience was so incredible, we're driving 376 miles in March to see the band again!
Our faves from this CD are "Walkin' the Dog," "While the Music is Playing," "Wander in the Summer Wind," and "Catch That Train." I hope your family will be as inspired by the work of this amazing band as mine has been.

Another fantastic work from Dan Zanes and Friends! What's so wonderful about their music is how they keep reinventing themselves, displaying a melting pot of all different types of music and musicians, yet one can recognize their sound immediately. Father Goose leaves his jovial trademark as expected, and the collaborations with well known musicians feels completely comfortable...Right now, our favorite song is Moonlit Town. Without giving too much away, it's a wonderful closing song, and it's so well written, it would bring back childhood memories for anybody...This is wonderful for everyone in the family, and doesn't underestimate what even a small child can understand. Our children are 2 and 4 and love to listen (and sing) to this collection of melodies over and over....Enjoy!Free Music Review: Catch That Melody!

If you have children and basic cable, then you have probably heard Dan Zanes whether you realize it or not.
"Catch That Train" is an infinitely catchy and quite uplifting little number. If you are in a bad mood, download this baby and sit back for awhile. You'll feel better soon... Trust me.
It's one of those rare songs that you don't mind getting stuck in your head.
On a side note, this is the very first song I have downloaded from Amazon's new MP3 service. I installed the Amazon MP3 Downloader program, clicked on a couple buttons and bam! The song was waiting in iTunes for me. Couldn't be easier...

I purchased this CD for my children - ages 2 and 4 - and they immediately fell in love with it. We play it in the morning to get our day started; we play it during the day to laugh and dance together; and they ask to have it on every night to go sleep with. I enjoy the songs, too, which is HUGE! A few weeks after this purchase we attended a Dan Zanes and Friends concert and my kids were thrilled to see their favorite singer in person. I know this is billed out as children's music and that he has (had?) a deal with Disney, but I think of this as just happy feel good bouncy music that everyone could love. I play his CD's in my business and customers tap their feet, dance and bob around to the music even though most have no idea who it is and haven't heard it before. That being said, my kids LOVE this CD and it's been a great addition to our Zanes "collection" (we have them all).
