We are huge fans of Dan Zanes in our house. Mostly because the kids love it & the grown-ups can stand to hear it over & over & over...
unlike Barney or something of the like that makes you want to scream 2 minutes into it.
I especially enjoy all the collaborations on this CD & his others...so many different types of music & sounds brought together. It teaches you about different cultures. And the folk/protest songs are a huge favorite as well. Listening to a Dan Zanes CD & reading the incredibly graphic & well written inserts that come along w/each CD are a treat that everyone w/kids should indulge in.
Going on a family road-trip? Ditch the DVD player in the minivan & pop in a new Dan Zanes CD instead!!
Free Music Review: Great fun for kids and a welcome switch from Raffi

I must start by saying that I LOVE Raffi -- but every now and then, it's nice to find something to bridge the gap between "mommy's music" and the kids' music. A great friend gave this to me and said that it was all the rage. My first play left me wondering if she was crazy - I thought that it was too low-key and too Bob Dylan-ish to fly with my kids (3 and 5)....but then we kept listening, and I don't know how it happened, but we are all addicted! It is really fun music, great for singing and dancing, and definitely worth a try. I'm getting it for my sister and her family, and recommend it highly to anyone.Free Music Review: You won't regret it!

I can tolerate most kids' music (in smallish doses), but this is a CD that I have listened to without the kids around. AND I actually enjoy having the songs from House Party still stuck in my head long after the CD is over. Oh yeah--my kids, ages 1, 5 and 8, like it too. You can't help but be in a good mood with this CD. Try his other CDs too--the man respects the music and the audience, whether he's doing his own song or a traditional from way back when, and the fun he's having manages to convey that notion.Free Music Review: Dan is her new best friend

We always look for music that is entertaining and enriching for both the toddler and the parent. We had heard Dan sing before on "For the Kids" CD and thought we'd give it a try. We all get down to Dan Zanes House Party! This CD never leaves the car player. The cover is a delightfully drawn board book of Dan & his entorage Whoopin' it up all over town. My 2 year old will "read" the book to me, explaining the pictures and making connections to the music. It's great.Free Music Review: One of the best children's disks ever!

This is simply a wonderful disk that both children and their parents will love. It has great songs and a wonderful flow to the album. The excellent playing and musicianship has an "organic" quality to it. I would rank it #3 all time behind "Not for Kids Only" by Garcia/Grisman and the greatest childrens disk of all time "You're Nice People You Are" by NRBQ. These 3 disks are essential to any parent who wants to enjoy the music as much, if not more than their children.
