Free Music Notes for Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia AlbumFree Music Review: Disappointed. Hit: 1 Stars
I want to be fair. I was angry after I bought this album only to discover that NONE of the other songs were even close to "Bohemian Like You". In fact, I had spent $50.00 on all three of their albums at the time thinking I had found a new musical sensation, so to speak. As I listened to each album, I became more and more insensed at not finding anything I wanted to hear. I felt like the victim of a bait and switch. Sometime later, my brother, who is a musical whiz, explained to me that this is the way albums were marketed at the time. There would be a group's signature song and then lots of album material. This means that most people who knew anything about the Dandy Warhols would not have been disappointed. In my ignorance of this fact, I blew up and spit all of this venom out at the bottom of this page. Oh well, live and learn. If what's on the album is what the Dandy Warhols wanted to achieve then it is a great album and if you are a true fan of theirs then you won't be disappointed. I can honestly say that as I have listened to the album, it has grown on me. One of my favorites is Horse Pills and on sunny afternoons when I am feeling cocky I like to pull into work with it blaring away on the car stereo. My employer is somewhat conservative so I always get a secret thrill from the experience. If I could go back and change it I would give it at least four (4) stars.
My old review...
I was hoping to hear more songs such as "Bohemian Like You", but what I heard was amateurish, self-indulgent, [stuff]. It was a disappointment from yet another band that isn't quite out of the garage yet.
