Free Music Notes for Thirteen Tales From Urban BohemiaFree Music Review: Real Music For Real People Hit: 5 Stars
WOW! Hypnotizing...tantalizing...mystifying...funkified...and downright cool...this is the new Dandys record and a dandy it is! Worth the wait and worth its weight in music gold! An automatic classic and should be a staple in any serious rock lovers collection. I just turned fifty and it's rock and roll like this that keeps me thinking twenty..this is the elixir that cures all the ills in music today. Thank you Dandys for giving me a birthday present of renewed vitality and just wanting to listen to something over and over and over...a definite top 5 album of the year...and maybe the best album of the year. WOW!
Free Music Review: Buy this CD and feel better Hit: 5 Stars
I wholeheartedly recommend this album. While Courtney's vocals really stand out from song to song, what's really amazing is how the entire cd, when listened to completely, has a feeling of unity - even though the songs are so different - and just an overall blanket of coolness is draped over you. Although a lot of the guitar work is simple and sounds borrowed, and the drums are very simple, because the band works so well together, the whole composition is fantastic. Buy this cd and listen to it and I guarantee that each subsequent time you listen to it, you'll love it more, and you'll just feel better about life.
Free Music Review: An excellent disc. Hit: 5 Stars
This is one of my favorite cds that i currently have in my collection. In this cd the dandy warhols put out a variety of songs. Some that are faster and more rock and others that are more slow and soulful. This is truly a musical journey. There is one consitency through out the album and that is that every song is good. Some of the better tunes are Bohemian Like You, Godless, and Mohammed. On the whole this is a disc that is slower and perfect to listen to if your looking to chillout. I would say that there is a good chance that you would like this cd if your into bands like the beatles, oasis , or radiohead.
Free Music Review: pure joy Hit: 5 Stars
I just recently discovered The Dandy Warhols so I can't comment much on their place in the history of American rock music or their tributes to influences, as previous reviewers have so eloquently done. But I can tell you my initial impression from listening to this album: the full, layered, complicated sound is so satisfying. Its catchy and authentic, and each song showcases a different style. In particular, I am impressed with what one reviewer called "Taylor-Taylor's chameleonlike voice." This is just an intensely rich and enjoyable album. I'm going to go listen to it on a loop until my ears bleed.
Free Music Review: Dandy's rule, ok? Fine by me Hit: 5 Stars
Ever since Test Drive: LeMans with it's intro and "Bohemian Like You", then to FIFA 2004 and "We Used to be Friends", I've been hooked on the Dandy Warhols. This is my first Dandy album, hopefully of many more to come. The album, "13 Tales from Urban Bohemia" is a well balanced mix of soul-reaching lyrics and hearty rifts. My favourites here are "Godless" and "Sleep". "Godless" is an excellent ballad of a nice guitar rift and horn section. "Sleep" has a beautiful sounding choral section and some of the best electronic fills in any song written or performed. In short, the Dandys DO rule, ok?
