In all my life I have never heard a comedian more hilarious than Dane Cook. His material is both fresh and entertaining and he is not bad looking either. Cook is known as a physical comedian in that his acts involve a lot of moving around and acting out his jokes. Also, Cook's material is not meant for kids, but for 18+ year olds.
Dane Cook is the boy next door, the high school clown, the crazy partier, and the jokester friend all rolled up into one. In his acts he can be crazy, running around like a mad man or he can be calm but still hilarious. He interprets voices into his jokes and best of all he has a contagious laugh that may seem annoying at first, but grows on you and ends up making his skits twice as funny.
In the past I've enjoyed listening to comedians like Wanda Sykes, Chris Rock, Jeff Foxworthy (Blue Collar TV) and others, but nobody quite compares to Dane Cook. He is crazy like Rock, simple like Foxworthy, and spontaneous like Sykes. If you are looking for a change from everyday comedians, try Cook for a new twist on great comedy.
The best parts about his acts are the jokes he does on the little things that people don't normally pay attention too. He jokes about religion, movies, accidents, and things people say, think and do every day without realizing it. Also, after watching his skits, you can't help but taking bits and pieces of his jokes to create hilarious catch phrases that make all the Dane Cook fans fall to the ground with laughter.
Another thing that makes Cook such a great comedian is that his style keeps you coming back for more. For example, I can listen to his CD in the car, come home, watch his DVD, and do the same thing week after week and never get tired of his acts. Also, I love being able to repeat a line from one of his acts and have who ever is listening start cracking up. For example, he once did a couple bits on classic pranks you can pull. For one of them he basically said: "Take your gloves and go down to the bank, get in line behind all the people at the bank, give the person in front of you a little nudge and when they turn around start putting the gloves on and say `now would be a good time to leave.'" Ha-ha, I love that prank along with all the others he jokes about in his acts...and you will too if you buy Harmful if Swallowed.
My advice, though, is to watch his DVD first and then pop in his CD later. I say this because Dane Cook is a physical comedian, so half of the reason why his jokes are funny is because he acts them out in order to amplify and clarify them for his audience. Also, if you go to his site at danecook.com you can learn about the SU-FI (the new and improved way to flick someone off) which is his emblem.
I encourage everyone who has seen Dane Cook on Comedy Central, or is curious about his style to buy his CD/DVD set so that we can show him just how much we love his material. Plus, the more sets Cook sells, the more he'll make for our viewing pleasure.
