Free Music Notes for The Mouse and the MaskFree Music Review: It's good Hit: 4 StarsWorth the price of admission just for "Old School" (and that song's only 2:40 long. Ya, it's that hot.) The rest ain't bad either. You don't need to be an Adult Swim fan to enjoy this album, but it definately makes it better if you are.
Free Music Review: A Great CD Hit: 4 StarsThe Mouse and the Mask is a great cd and MF Doom is a great lyricist. I found this album by reading the reviews of other people on Amazon and have to say I lucked out. Otherwise, i never would have heard of it.
Every track is fun and there are a lot of great guest appearances on this album. The track with Ghostface Killa is my favorite on this album. Another noteworthy appearance is made by Talib Kweli who should by now be a house-hold name.
I still don't understand why Kweli's album isn't on the radio dial when he has hits by Kanye West and lyrics on par or better than the best. For that matter, this album should be a huge hit too.
You really have to wonder how these artists with absolutely no talent get their music on the airwaves. The only thing I can think of is that the stations are getting paid.
I'm glad I got to hear this album because for a long time now I thought hip-hop was dead, but I guess I was just listening to what was on the radio. This album is a must have for any hip-hop or music fan.
Free Music Review: Cartoon Brilliance Hit: 4 StarsWhat do you get when you combine one of the top producers in the underground, one of the hottest MCs in the underground, and a handful of characters from Cartoon Network's Adult Swim set of cartoons? You get a well crafted album, with plenty of great rhymes, great guests, and pure comedy. MF Doom has been creating quality hip hop for a handful of years, and this album is no exception. His compatriot on this cartoon outing, is the mind behind the "Grey Album" which took Jay-Z's overhyped and overrated "Black Album" and mixed it with the Beatle's "White Album," and the Gorillaz' latest release, "Demon Days."
This particular album sticks with the Adult Swim theme throughout, including some hilarious guest appearances from characters such as Master Shake, Meatwad, Brak, Zorak, Space Ghost, and Harvey Birdman, among others. Some of the tracks are brilliant in their hilarity, others are just plain brilliant. Doom's writing and flow are as good as ever, and DM's production does a great job of incorporating eccentric instrumentation and fantastic cartoon samples with some fantastic boom-bap.
The live guests also add to the proceedings, especially Talib Kweli's turn on "Old School Rules." Danger Mouse is extremely good at creating beats that fit the flow of whoever is going to be rapping over them, and it shows throughout the album.
Free Music Review: Doom is brilliant when it comes to Collaberations... Hit: 4 StarsDoom does it once again. How does he do it? I was first introduced by Brillian Doom with November has come on the Gorillaz Demon Days, then moved on to Vaudeville Villan which I loved and then moved towards Madvillany which took a bit of patience and adjusting but evventually became another classic Doom collab/album. Then I got my hands on his first album which is almost flawless. Now I finally cop his Collab with Danger Mouse and all I gotta say is WOW....
2nd best Doom album ever!!!
I love this album, it feels like Doom has matured greatly and is even developing more with his lyrics with songs like "Old School" which is an amazing song on the album, hell all of is it great!!!

Free Music Review: Solid. Hit: 4 StarsThis is basically a solid hip-hop album. And I mean Hip-Hop in the truest sense of the word. This is not cRap...this is hip hop. The rhymes are fresh and Doom limits his use of four-letter words. Which in my opinion is one sign of a talented MC. The collabo's with Talib and Cee-Lo are a nice bonus. Danger Mouse has mixed in the Adult Swim cast perfectly and it adds humor without being corny. As for comparisons to Mouse or Doom's previous works, I can't form an opinion because this is the only time I've given them a listen. Did this album make me want to go out and find more Doom or more Mouse, no. But I'm really skeptical when it comes to hip-hop, so that doesn't mean much. I will say that if I ever come across either one of them again, I'll definitely check it out. SAVE HIP-HOP.
