Free Music Notes for Dangerous ToysFree Music Review: A Pretty Good Surprise Hit: 4 Stars
This is another one of those cassettes I got for fifty cents in a bargain bin. I'd heard of Dangerous Toys but thought they were a hair metal band. When I saw their photo, they looked more like Black Oak Arkansas than Poison.
From the first track, I could tell these guys were an above average band. The only traces of hair metal I heard were a bit of that snare drum sound and the singer, Jason McMaster would tend to wail here and there. However, most of the time, his voice complements the music. It is powerful and I can see why Ignitor picked him as their current vocalist. As long as he reigns in the vocal theatrics, I think he really rocks. He has a snarly and nasty voice that is perfect for metal.
The musicianship is outstanding. Everyone does their part.
What makes this album so much better is that most of the songs have substance and are memorable. The music isn't just a bunch of riffing and shrieking thrown together.
This is/was an excellent band. It is reflected in the fact that they had at least some moderate success. They deserved more. Highly recommended.
Free Music Review: Texas Hair Metal 1989 Hit: 4 Stars
I like the spirit of the "don't give a f***" from the late 80s Hair metal bands. This debut cd from DT is very solid and every song is pretty good. Got sum good slide guitar solos and raging drinking songs about banging chics that are more hard cheezy rock n roll. I bought it off of the Amazon reccomended ratings. Def try to buy a used copy, but i got my new copy for $5.
Free Music Review: Make my waistband go snappy Hit: 1 Stars
This is awful, even by hair-metal standards. The singer sounds like every other gd singer from that time and has written lyrics only a 13-year-old boy would like. Just look at the song titles. Guitars are like the vocals; a re-hash of a re-hash of a re-hash. Can't believe this has gotten 5-star ratings from some people.
