Free Music Review: There Was Jim, Now There Is Gentleman "Daniel"
Hit: 5 Stars

I do not for one minute wish to detract from Gentleman Jim Reeves and his velvet voice, because I like his music, too. I perk up every time I happen to hear his rich, one-of-a-kind, easy-listening voice.

But now there is "Daniel" with an easy-listening, velvet-voiced style all his own, which I cannot hear enough of. His renditions of Jim's songs are done with his own intonations, clarity, and timing which just flow with my own musical sense and feelings. I even enjoy the sad songs. There are the beautiful love songs, too, like I LOVE YOU BECAUSE, MOONLIGHT AND ROSES, AND YOU'RE THE ONLY GOOD THING.

If I could pick two special songs, they would be AM I LOSING YOU and HOW CAN I WRITE ON PAPER, perhaps because they are new to me, and Daniel does them so unforgettably.

This album is a very desirable addition to my collection, but then I feel that way about all of Daniel's music. I think Jim would be pleased and honored that Daniel, a super-star in his own right, remembered him with this tribute to his music. I might add that the CD cover pictures of Daniel are a special treat for his fans, and the short biographical story about Jim is interesting and very appropriate.

Free Music Review: Welcome to my World
Hit: 5 Stars

Just wanted to say that as a new fan of Daniel O'Donnell and an old fan of Jim Reeves that this latest cd is just amazing to listen to. I was a teenager of about 12 or 13 when I thought no one could ever sing as beautifully and with as much feeling as Jim did. Now, as a somewhat older person, I feel that way about Daniel and his music. I can close my eyes as I listen to this cd and other than the fact that Jim sang in a much lower octave, I can see him standing there singing those songs. Daniel has done a wonderful job in singing these songs. A very wonderful tribute to Jim. I know Jim would be proud.Of all of Daniel's country music albums, this one is the best in my opinion. But they are all GREAT!

Free Music Review: Tribute to Jim Reeves
Hit: 5 Stars

I salute Daniel O'Donnell for tackling this project on the 40th anniversary of Jim Reeves' passing. Jim Reeves had an incomparable voice that no one could hope to match. His smooth style earned him worldwide fame and his music is timeless. Daniel also has a smooth, gentle approach that works very well on most of the selections. He's most effective on some of the lesser known hits, such as It Hurts So Much, How Can I Write On Paper, Is It Really Over, and others. 2 of Jim Reeves' biggest sellers - He'll Have To Go and Welcome To My World just can't compare with Jim's rich baritone. Even so, this is a worthy compilation that is a welcome addition to any collection of fine music.

Free Music Review: Panola County meets County Donegal
Hit: 5 Stars

Nobody loves Jim Reeves' singing and music more than I. To me Jim was the absolute best. I truly enjoy and admire many great artists, but when I listened to Jim I always said, "There is no one like him!" I never enjoyed anyone else singing Jim Reeves songs. (In fact it really annoyed me!) because they just couldn't do Jim justsice. That was until I heard Daniel sing. Jim Reeves' voice was velvet. Daniel's is crystal clear. Daniel doesn't sound like Jim, but HE SINGS like Jim. He will touch your heart and soul. Listen to Daniel sing Jim's songs. Radiate in the LOVE in his voice. Jim Reeves will never be forgotten. Neither will Daniel O'Donnell.

Free Music Review: He's not Jim Reeves, but....
Hit: 5 Stars

if you have never heard Jim Reeves you will enjoy every selection. However, my favorite singer was Jim Reeves. I cannot fault Daniel O'Donnell for doing his songs, but Jim sang them with a trademark that I cannot ever forget. My wife notices this also, but Daniel has become our favorite singer as of late, and we are both senior citizens that enjoy great music. So we have to give him five stars as he is smooth and more of a tenor where Jim Reeves was a smooth baritone. To make this story short, for one who likes the country ballads, nobody today can sing them any better than Daniel. Just sit back and enjoy. You cannot go wrong with anything by Daniel O'Donnell.
